We probably might have also mentioned the winner.

We also recapped some of the recent Summer Battle Royale matchups, Doubles and weekly League action and where to find the best Rochester garbage plate. We finished it off with a round of Disc or No Disc pitting Alex and Evan against Corey and Ryan.

SPEAKER_06

Welcome to the Hudson Valley Discover Podcast. This week's episode is sponsored by our 20 or so YouTube viewers. Has anybody here used YouTube to listen to their watch the podcast?

SPEAKER_10

Nope. I do know one person that does though. And I I've talked uh David Koch when he would listen. He would just do it on YouTube because he already had like the YouTube music app or some shit. So I know of at least one verified user at some point.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, that's cool. Yeah, every I get every month I get an update from it. It doesn't count in our numbers, I guess. But I don't really care about that, but uh, I guess I do because I mentioned it, but I don't, you know. It's just interesting because I don't I'm not of the YouTube generation, so I've only recently got into like watching shows on it and such. So it's always interesting. This week, Alex, Corey, Randy, and Ryan Nelson are here. Uh Evan should be here in a bit after dubs. Pat says he's having Wi-Fi issues, Jamin's in Maine. No Joe tonight. We may, I doubt it, but we may even hear from Greg Kurtz. He messaged me the other day. Actually, I'll just read it to you. Because uh uh he said uh he was out in Buffalo for the week helping set up the putting expedition and watching Ethan and Jeff. But if you want any content about being in in Buffalo, let me know. So I said, yeah, sure, I'll send you a link, and I hadn't heard from him since. So that was yesterday at 72, which you know, my clock doesn't have a 722, but yeah, so you know, he might pop

Renaissance Man Returns II

SPEAKER_06

on, who knows? But there were a couple events we missed last week. I wanted to go over Renaissance Man Returns 2. Corey, you mentioned it a few times promotionally, so I figured I should at least go through the results. You ended up not going, right?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, and even up to the point that it was happening, I kinda I'm not saying I quite regret not going, but I'm a little um sad I didn't go.

SPEAKER_06

A little uh what's it called? Uh FOMO?

SPEAKER_10

FOMO, yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, okay. So uh Renaissance Man Returns 2 in Warwick, New York, Jason Murak, tournament director, had 43 players, bunch of divisions here. MA3 mixed amateur three, Dennis Flynn won that, beat Will Burn by a stroke. Bagger Wilburn, MA2, Pete Newland, shot a plus one, won the MA2 division. MA60 mixed amateur 60 had three players under Park. Chris Gurnett, shot a minus one, Tim Mendolia, shot a minus three, and your winner Steve Beckman shot a minus four. MA40, mixed amateur 40, Noah Blanchard, shot a minus one, Jared Secor won it at a minus two. Kelly Turpening won FA1, women's amateur one. There was a tie in MA1. Alex Zanouski and Ryan Fulkertzma. Uh they both shot plus six, but it looks like Ryan won in some sort of playoff. Uh Matt Pappas won MA40, beat Nick Smith and Mr. Mixelplick, beat a guy named Nick S by a stroke, and then MPO looks like Tyler Ferrari shot a minus five for second place, and Leighton Brinster, your winner minus nine. In the MP40 division, Bramwell Thorne from Thomwood Vale, United Kingdom. That's uh Ivan Yvonne Marmota Marmoda. He changes his name with every tournament, apparently. It looks like it's back to Ivan Marmota, so but he played this tournament since it was Renaissance Man, he played it as Bramwell Thorne. That's uh Renaissance Man returns too. Thought it was worth a mention.

Discap Flex Series #5 at Prospect Park

SPEAKER_06

Also, we missed last week was the Discap Flex Series 2026 five of six in Troy, New York, and prospect. Uh Mike Schwartz, tournament director, had 75 players. Had a girls junior FJ 15, girls junior under 15, Luna Pelton won that. FA3 Women's Amateur 3, Martha Aday beat Alyssa Kazlin to win FA3. MA3 Eamon Henshee came in third place, shot even parr. Eamon Foster in second at minus two, and Kenji Klein, your winner. So Kenji's playing disc golf again. That's cool.

SPEAKER_10

Did we confirm it's actually him and not? Nope. Yep, when you click the account, it does go to Kenji's page. So it is him, not just someone faking his name.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, well, I don't think you could, right? Because you can't use the same exact name as somebody else on disc golf, can you?

SPEAKER_10

I don't know. Maybe Ivan uh Marmona Mar was, you know, in the area that day.

SPEAKER_06

Valid point. MA2 mixed amateur two tie for fifth place. Charles Bednarchik and Patrick Jeffries shot minus four. Tie for third place at minus five, Christopher Evanchuk and Brandon Klein. And there was a tie for first at minus six. Daniel Ramsey and Mark Davidson. Marcia Fock won the F-A-60 Women's Amateur 60 division. That puts her at 133 wins career. MA60 mixed amateur 60. Peter Cornish won that, shot even par. Carleta Darling won F-A-50, Women's Amateur 50. Jakeuey won the MA 50 mixed amateur 50 by a stroke over Earl Steinberg. Krista Kovac won F-A 40, women's amateur 40. Uh looks like Joe Karan tied with Todd Everleth at even par for third place in the MA40 mixed amateur 40 division. Terry Hudson shot a minus one for second, and Jordan Kaslin is your winner, shot minus two. MA 1, everybody in the whole uh division shot under par. So Dennis Daly and Dan Perry came and tied for second, minus seven, and Josh Lee is your winner, shot a minus nine.

SPEAKER_10

One crazy thing about that is when I got to the park before my round was right around the time that Dan Perry's card was getting to whole 18, which is right next to the parking lot. I didn't see him throw it, but I heard like some exclamations before got to the basket. And I turned around just in time to watch him ace it, which ended up being meaningful, obviously, because it made him tie Dennis. But as that hit the chains, he just started running it down and you know going crazy. And at one point he's like, Wherever you are on the course, Dennis F you. That on a big FU Dennis, but uh it was a sick ace.

SPEAKER_06

And then he hit hit one the next day or something with the same disc apparently.

SPEAKER_10

That's cool.

SPEAKER_06

MP60, Mix Pro 60, Dave Chaken, and Greg Kurtz tied at minus three. MP50, Mix Pro 50, Dave Herodis came in third place, shot minus one. Ron British tire in second at minus two. And Jeff Darling is your winner, shot minus three. Kathleen Bemis held off Megan Mercier for the FPO win. And Randy, how'd you play? Do you play Prospect very often?

SPEAKER_07

I played it a lot. This year I realized I hadn't played it since maybe the first week or two of dubs. So it had been been a while, but I mean, yeah, over the years I've played it a lot. I did sign up for the wrong division. So that was that was a mistake. But played MPO. Got there with enough time to warm up and just had one of those rounds where things just got a little little wild. Like hole one, I threw it a hundred feet long. Like I threw a normal shot and it just didn't do what it was supposed to do. And that's just kind of how the round went. I got myself a few under par on the front nine after a few goofs early, and then I just hit this little stretch between like holes 10 and 14 where I basically double bogeyed all of those holes. And that has never happened to me. If I'm going into a prospect round, I'm expecting like a bogey, maybe, maybe two on the on that stretch, like 13 and 14 are like super bogeyable. I would never freak out about bogeying either of those holes, but like I doubled both of them. It was just bonkers, but I don't know, didn't give up. I could have easily just continued to like trash my round. And then after I got out of the woods there, I just uh almost birdied out. I got 15, 16, 18. At 18, it was raining. We were the last card. It started to downpour for like our last two holes. And 18 felt good to just finish that round off with like a 45-footer straight down the hill. No reason for me not to run it at that point. I was in last place, anyways, and just managed to make that putt. So ended up being really fun, and I'm just gonna forget about the bad holes in the middle.

SPEAKER_06

Well, you said you you think you played the wrong division. Why would you say that?

SPEAKER_07

Oh, because I shot my worst rating since 2019. It's my first time being under 900 in like a couple years, maybe. Yeah, that's probably why.

SPEAKER_06

I would argue that that was your play, not you. You should you play I think you played the right division.

SPEAKER_07

I know, I know. But it was just funny that the entire, I think, MA1 division also shot under par, and like I I managed to shoot over par at prospect, which I never would have imagined. But hey, I did it.

SPEAKER_06

Absolutely. I mean, you would have came in like seventh place in MA2, but yeah, he's exactly I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_07

No, it was it was a great event. I I really can't complain. I mean, I got a lot of birdies, so like I had fun. It was just the bogies that were wild. Stuff that just, you know, had never happened to me before happened, and then it got worse after I tried to fix it. You played as well, Corey. How'd that go?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I was gonna say, Randy, did you not get any weather during your round?

SPEAKER_07

It was just the last, I don't know, maybe three holes, which is somehow where I got birdies. But yeah, it's it started to rain right at the end, like pretty, pretty heavy.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I uh I signed up late and sniped the fourth spot in uh the card with Justin Michelli, Megan, and maybe Leighton. Was he playing this? Leighton Scott, yeah. It it was hot as hell, but we when I remember that vividly because I did not bring enough water even for prospect. I thought, you know, prospect, one water bottle be good. Wasn't enough. I started off with two birdies and thought it was gonna be a great round. I don't play prospect that often, and I know like it's it's basically birdie or die, which is kind of tough as I'm coming to this event, it's the last thing before rating update, and I'm trying to pass Michelli. And I just know that uh prospect can be a rating killer. I feel like you could probably plot it out. There's probably a line where like ratings for prospect are just really hard to get without going absolute lights out as far as like what your rating is. But um, I feel like that like locals are just gonna crush that because there's a bunch of holes that are like under 220 or or at least under 250, and a couple of them are kind of janky if you're looking at holes is it 12 and 14, are probably like the the two jankiest ones. Well, 12 being the most janky, but most jankiest? Most jankiest, jankiest of them all.

SPEAKER_05

By far.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, Evan's here. Yeah, he knows all about it then. You could have you could have jumped in at any point and said, Yep, that's hole twelve.

SPEAKER_05

No, you're cooking, bro.

SPEAKER_10

You gotta so I don't know. I just once I got to the middle section of the course, I was just I wasn't picking up any birdies. I had bogeyed hole five, which is one of the shortest, if not the shortest hole, by just being soft at the teapad and then aggressive later on. That kind of burned me. But they get to play with Justin, who got a ton of birdies. He eagled hole eight, which is a soft par four, but managed to uh myself kind of scrape together a below ever drown. He had a pretty good day. It was fun hanging out with Lane and Megan, you know, seeing Dan's ace, and then from there I was just like, well, Adam and Randy are the last ones to play because they were playing after us, so I kind of kind of watched their scores a little bit as I was also watching this giant storm cloud come from the south to the north as I drove through it and thought, well, they might have a really rough the last few holes.

SPEAKER_06

Did you take a drink of Outlaw Light every time you saw Randy Bogey on the app when you were checking scores?

SPEAKER_10

That point, yeah, probably. I probably came right home with my tackle bell that I probably picked up on the way after and turned the AC on, drank an outlaw light. Like, oh, another double bogey, Randy. Who's whole strategy? But no, I've uh I gotta you gotta shout out Mike Schwartz, which we do this every single time. But I don't know what the first tea time was, and I don't know when the last person left. But to just to be sitting out there in 95 degree weather with 100% humidity for eight hours or whatever it might have been.

SPEAKER_06

So Adam Nelson came in third place, he shot minus four. Uh, you came in second at minus five, and Justin shot 1013, 11 under for the win.

SPEAKER_10

Which actually that was kind of big because now I'm on a three-event cash streak. Thanks, Adam.

SPEAKER_06

It says Discap Flex Series 2026, five of six. Is there another one before the volunteer or is the volunteer number six?

SPEAKER_05

There's one at Heiser.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

September 4th.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, yeah, that's the weekend where you were saying instead of uh Greater Hartford Open.

SPEAKER_05

Yep. Yeah, that you could do that and okay Heiser Flex Friday and then Stony Kill Scramble that weekend.

SPEAKER_06

Mm-hmm. So there's the Hyzer Flex, and then it sounds like they started sending out invites for the volunteer open, which is what in November, right?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I think those are up on Disc Golf scene. Volunteer finale October 25th.

SPEAKER_06

And that's at Stony Kill, right?

SPEAKER_05

Yep. Invitations are posted.

SPEAKER_10

Which is kind of fitting giving how much volunteer hours we put at that course the past couple months.

SPEAKER_06

We I thought you were busy putting in white teaps at J Park.

SPEAKER_10

I was helping out, you know, I was just helping out.

SPEAKER_06

Uh hole eight they put in?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, we did hole eight, which worked out perfectly because it was a sunny day and there was shade the entire area. So nice we plopped one in there. I think we had like seven people.

SPEAKER_06

Hole eight. I gotta think of I almost gotta go backwards because I know eleven.

SPEAKER_10

The par four that you throw like from the driveway.

SPEAKER_06

To the big rock.

SPEAKER_10

The big yeah, with the uh with the basket on the rock. Yep.

SPEAKER_06

If you were to estimate whereabout is the white teapad, if could you describe it?

SPEAKER_10

I would say it's probably halfway from the tea to the basket in between two of those trees that you're kind of throwing around from the long teaped. So it's like a par three? It's a par three, yeah. It's probably like 220. There's some branches you gotta miss and you gotta get up on the rock. Nice.

SPEAKER_06

But it's not out in the field, it's on the other side of the trees.

SPEAKER_10

It's like in line with those trees. So, like, yeah, it's like in line with them. There's basically like three, there's like three sets of trees there. There's like the long ones that people are trying to get to to have an easy approach in the long. There's the middle tree that is like short of that spot, and then there's actually another shorter tree that's like 60 feet short of that one. But I'm sure that doesn't make any sense for anyone that doesn't know the hole, but it's definitely not a gimme tree. If you do, it helps. Yeah. That's actually a good point, Ryan, because I'm sure people have played hundreds around at J Park, and one didn't know that there was white T's, or two didn't know where to find them because at least this one was just like some old bricks in the ground.

SPEAKER_06

So, yeah, that's the Discap Flex 2026 number five of six. One more to go in just

Last Week in Disc Golf Monday & Tuesday

SPEAKER_06

a couple weeks. Let's pause a minute and take a look at some of the results from the last week in disc golf. On Monday, we had Gunks dubs. Max Horowitz and Brian Hauser came in second place, they shot a minus five. Purple Phil and Dave Irving are your winners, they shot minus seven. Saratoga Spa Random Dubs, week 19, presented by 80k discs. Cody Canine and Joe Carron came in third place with a minus 14. Jacob the Butler, Bethel, and Emily Jackson in second at minus 16, and Aaron Hopey and Ryan Clary are winners, they shot minus 18. Colonial Acres dubs had a three-way tie for first place. Peter Fitzisti and Stephen Gaylord shot a minus 11. So did Kevin Newen and Mark Bryan, and Christopher Evanchuk and Larry B. They shot at minus 11 as well. Prospect Park doubles from last week. Mark Davidson and Leighton Scott came in third place at minus 12. Adam Nelson and Nick Alcatraz at Katz in second at minus 14. And Josh Lee and Brooke Arnold are your winners, they shot minus 15. Josh Lee and Brooke also got the Birdie Bank for 22 bucks, and so did Nick and Adam. David Shakin had a CTP on hole 17, and nobody hit an ace. Skylands Tuesday doubles. Perry Smith and T-Bor shot a minus three for third place. Brennan Colton came in second and minus four, and Elijah Morgan, your winner, minus six. J Dubs Points Championship week 20.

SPEAKER_10

We play J North, which I'm sure fended off a lot of people, but I believe that's the last time we're doing it with the time dwindling down. And that was week 20, so we're really getting to the asset of the of the league. Dennis Daly, Harry Lehman took it down with a nine down, beating out James Scow and Justin Mucelli, who shot a seven down for second place. Tim Goyet did manage to take the cash CTP on hole 19. And I think it was their card that messed up putting down the CTPs, or at least the first one, because um walking down hole 15, which was a free CTP hole, I found both flags just sitting in the fairway, like they fell out of somebody's bag. So we didn't do a free CTP that day, but that actually didn't do much for the leaderboard as far as the top 10 sets. For we 21, we're playing JE South, and probably the last time we're playing at 5.30. Yeah, I think probably starting the 25th, we're probably gonna start at 5.15.

SPEAKER_06

You got a top five for the season?

SPEAKER_10

Uh yeah, top five of the season actually pretty interesting. Here Lehman's at 19 events, reminder, top 18 count. So he he's at 278. Justin Mucelli has also hit the 18 mark, and he's at 272, so there's a six-point spread there. I'm in third with 20 events at 237, just ahead of Brian Bickersmith, who has 229, but he's only got 16 events, so he's got two more events coming in that are full points. And then fifth place, we have Jake Orsage with 226 points and 17 events.

SPEAKER_06

So how many total weeks do you play?

SPEAKER_10

26, I believe. I mean, really, at this point, it's this it's a two-horse race between Harry and Justin. I mean, this literally could come down to if someone can get an ace in these last few weeks. I know Justin's lead trying to go for the four peat, I believe, and and Harry is a previous multi-year winner. So yeah, that's gonna be an interesting finish of the season.

SPEAKER_06

Absolutely. Wilcox doubles week 21. Matt Hart and Matt Nathanson came in third place, shot a minus 10. Scott Duncan and Nick Warren in second at minus 11, and Max Horowitz and Patty are your winners. They shot minus 14. CTA Handicap League had a three-way tie for third. Rick Steeler, Ryan Travis 148, 343, and Jim Robertson shot plus one to their handicap. Tom McGuckin in second shot even, and your winner Jim Burns shot three strokes better than his handicap. Kisko Tuesday doubles. Simon Ramon and Ishmael Valencia came in second place, shot a minus seven. Baxter Prescott and Chris Schofield are your winners, they shot minus thirteen. And women's league at CPS. Julia Harcourt came in fourth place. Sarah Rizzo and Brandy Hudson tied for second, and your winner, Kathleen Beamis.

Ryan in Rochester

SPEAKER_06

Ryan, you said something about Rochester.

SPEAKER_02

Well, so the reason I'm going to Rochester, which I've never been to before, so I was like, perfect opportunity. Get some recommendations on where to get my garbage plate at. I'm sure Corey probably has some suggestions.

SPEAKER_10

No, I'm too far. That's still that's like three and a half hours from me. I got no. So then yeah, just get one.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, anybody here ever been to Rochester?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I'm blacklisted from the campus of RIT.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not surprised. What'd you break?

SPEAKER_07

We were playing an ultimate tournament and we had like a 30 rack per person, and the campus police rolled up and told us it was a dry campus. And luckily, yeah, uh we were an alumni team and we were all over 21, so they just let us leave, but they took all our IDs first and told us to never come back. So we did not win that that tournament.

SPEAKER_02

Yikes.

SPEAKER_07

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

Yikes. What way to go? All right. Well, that's that's no help. Did you I mean, did you get a garbage plate while you're there?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I've played a tournament out there probably like four or five times, like through all of college, and then as an alumni, and then it was over. But yeah, uh, there's like a chain, so this is probably just a touristy answer, but like the one I went to is Henrietta Hots. It was like the town of Henrietta right outside of Rochester. So the hots, I guess, chain, those at least hit the spot after a day of being outside.

SPEAKER_02

Excellent. And what's the what's like the the proper way to order it? Is there like a because I I've saw there's like a whole bunch of different types of plates. You can get like a Reuben plate, you can get like, but isn't it just like meat sauce on the stuff build it from the ground up?

SPEAKER_07

So like mac and cheese, fries, and then you pick your like protein to like slap on top of it. And so you can basically just like build a cheeseburger if you want that you can just shovel into your face, or you can get a little bit weirder and get like colesla and like mac salad on it or something. So yeah, it's just basically a ton of sides with meat sauce slopped on top of it.

SPEAKER_10

It's like a deconstructed American cookout burrito bowl. Something like that, Gary. I want everything but the bun and throw it onto a plate.

SPEAKER_02

Just sounds like American nachos, just meat sauce on a whole bunch of American sides, which sounds incredible. So but that's not the reason I'm going to Rochester. That's just, you know, among the things that I gotta do when I go out there. My wife and I wanted to go see the Odyssey in 70 millimeter IMAX. And there's only a bunch of theaters that like do that in the US, like the traditional film. And so we looked at like going to Union Square, which you know, I can take the train to down to Manhattan, but like everything's booked for like months out. And so my wife found seats in Rochester at their 70 millimeter IMAX. So we booked that like last week and found an excuse, you know, just we're just like, we'll just make a weekend out of it. And uh so we got like a a little like lake joint at one of the finger lakes up there, and that's like 35, 40 minutes from Rochester. So we're gonna be there this weekend just to see the Odyssey, which would be pretty sweet.

SPEAKER_07

So you haven't played any courses out there either?

SPEAKER_02

Nope. And probably won't be playing any courses. Darn. Are there any good ones? I might be able to none. No, sorry.

SPEAKER_07

No, there's really good ones.

SPEAKER_02

So I feel like I'd be pushing it. Try to squeeze around in, but uh, what's the course if you had to pick one?

SPEAKER_07

I think mine is the one no one mentions, and it's called Shore Winds, and it's like a state park property, and it's massive. There's 36 holes. It's like a chucker's delight. You're right on Lake Ontario the whole time, so there's like wind coming across it, like directional wind. So I threw my furthest throw ever, like on flat ground there just by like playing the wind. I threw like 600 something feet. It was really fun, and it landed near the basket generally. So I don't know. It's worth playing once if you're in Rochester.

SPEAKER_10

Okay. The two courses I used for states was Parma and um Shadow Pines. Shadow Pines is like on like an old golf course, I believe. And Parma was well, you could watch videos.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I didn't think of those courses. The other course I put out there was Chile, which I thought was really fun.

SPEAKER_02

Say that again, English.

SPEAKER_07

Chili. It smelled like Chili, and someone corrected me that they say Chile because I was like, Oh, I played Chili, and they're like, Who are you?

SPEAKER_02

Interesting. Is that like how Cairo is pronounced? How's it pronounced, Corey? Cairo.

SPEAKER_08

Cairo.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, is it really not Cairo?

SPEAKER_08

The local one is Cairo.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, okay. No, I didn't know that. Well, for the longest time I thought it was Vality until I heard the weatherman say Valetia. I'm like, what the hell? That's how you say that though.

SPEAKER_07

Dude, there's so many wrong ones. It's crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Nice. So yeah, that's my plan this weekend. We

2026 World Team Disc Golf Championships

SPEAKER_02

should be fine. In a couple weeks, I'm going overseas. Gotta maintain my reputation as Mr. Worldwide or whatever the fuck. Corey. Corey called me.

SPEAKER_10

It was probably Mrs.

SPEAKER_02

but uh that's that's the wife. That's the wife, Mrs. Worldwide. So yeah, last year I like on a whim applied on the PDGA website to be considered to be on Team USA for the World Team Disc Golf Championship, which is in Lithuania this year in September. Funny enough, like in February, when I was at the Olympics, you know, watching hockey and everything, I literally got the call from the PDGA that was like, hey, you know, you're next up on the list if you're still interested in competing in the Team Disc Golf World Championship. So I was like, hell yeah, I'm still interested. So that's what I'll be doing September 3rd through the 10th, basically, is going out to the capital of Lithuania called Vilnius for like a five-day international competition. Do you know like what they're gonna do? What's the format? Well, it's funny because it you know, we're less than a month away from the tournament, and most of the details are ironed out in terms of like logistics-wise, like we know when the practice days are going to be, what they've arranged for like food and lunch at the course, and you know, rosters are are all submitted and stuff like that. I had to take like a five-hour long anti-doping test because it's like an international competition that's hosted by Wiff Diff, that's like the IOC recognized frisbee organization. So, like, in order to compete internationally in a Wiff Diff thing, you have to literally like take the same test that like Olympic athletes do for like anti-doping. So I had to like take five like a five-hour course and pass that. Well, how much was that? No, that it was free. Oh it was free. No, no, no. Yeah, yeah. It's it was it was free. But it was it was definitely time consuming. Like you had to learn about like all the different rules, not just for players, but like trainers and stuff like that. And I'm like, trainers.

SPEAKER_10

Well, I thought maybe you were getting drug tested.

SPEAKER_02

You know, what's funny is it does it it says that like you know, because this is under like Wada, the World Anti-Doping Agency, they could spot check players if they wanted to. Like the local organizing committee or the or like the WADA local committee or whatever local body for Lithuania or Europe, like could drug test people, which is interesting. So I mean, obviously a lot of players were like, Well, what the hell does that mean? And there apparently there's like medical use exemptions that you have to file. So uh there's been a lot of chatter in the uh the WeChat about uh about medical use exemptions for certain certain things. The competition itself, it's like team-based, so very similar to like team challenge. There's a pro team and there's a masters team, and there's uh something like 11 or so players on each team. Um so there's like eight MPO players on the pro team and three women on the pro team, and there's like 32 different countries going. There's four matches happening per game. Two of the matches are going to be singles, and I don't know if it's stroke play or match play, they haven't haven't said, but it's like four seated. So like MPO1 Lithuania will play MPO1 USA, MPO2 would play MPO two, and then they'll do a doubles match where it might be like your FPO two and your MPO4 versus their MPO4 and FPO two. So there's a little bit of strategy there because you're only rostering, I guess, six players from your team per game, so you're gonna have a bench, and they do like the force ranking, and it's just by rating. So I'm like the third worst on the team, but it's possible that if we're playing a weak team, they might actually you know start the bottom half of the roster, and I'll I would be like the MPO2 for that match or for that game. So it should be pretty interesting. I'm actually excited to not have have to play like every match because like I can't remember the last time that I played disc golf like eight days in a row. I feel like my body's gonna fall apart. So I'm looking forward to the rest to be able to sit out certain matches for sure.

SPEAKER_06

All right, pop quiz. Sure. According to you disc, what city with six courses and two stores that sell disc golf gear is ranked as the best disc golf destination in Lithuania?

SPEAKER_02

Is it Vilnius? It can't be Vilnius. I think there's only two courses there. I I couldn't even name another another city in Lithuania.

SPEAKER_06

Is that where you want to go with?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, let's go Vilnius. Vilnius.

SPEAKER_06

Is the Vilnius a disc?

SPEAKER_02

Oh man. I'm trying to think if there's any discs named after countries in Europe. I feel like there was some Estonian, like I feel like there might have been like a Tallinn or something like that. I'm gonna say yes.

SPEAKER_06

Gram discs, July 14th, 2025. Nice.

SPEAKER_02

According to you, Doctor has six courses.

SPEAKER_06

They could be like nine holes or something.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, interesting. So there's apparently two courses. They're at like Puckerai Park, which I think means the pilgrim or something. It's like park style, 18 holes, and then they have like a five-hole little loop of some sort. So I think that they're they're gonna build two eighteen-hole courses that are on like in that park. So you're you're gonna be in the same venue, you know, for the entire competition. But I guess they're setting up something temporary for the other 18, which should be pretty cool. But I was looking at like the Udisc pictures for the park itself, and like some of them have turf pads, some of them don't have pads. So I'm hoping that they, you know, put something down for some of these holes, especially if it's like muddy uh and rainy, but it should be interesting. But overall, the course the course looks fun, it looks very park-like, like an FDR or something like that. It's interesting. Apparently, they're going to be live streaming it, like on the PDGA website or something like that. So there's uh Pulsea Disc Golf and Wiff Diff and the PDGA are doing live coverage with like the Parade of Nations and the opening ceremony and the medal ceremony, uh, and live coverage of at least for the pro side throughout the competition, which should be pretty cool. We just got like an email from the PDGA guy about like, hey, we need to know what your like notable achievements and sponsors and stuff are. I don't think they would accept uh like won the 2024 made in the glades while blackout drunk for round two. I don't think that's gonna make the coverage. So I I gotta find I gotta find out so I gotta find some cool stats to uh to put in there.

SPEAKER_06

How did you even hear about this?

SPEAKER_02

I just saw it on the PDGA website and it was like, you know, accepting applications. Like I had heard about it previously. Like this is the sixth time they've done the the Team Disc Golf World Championship. It's been in like Australia, in Estonia, in the UK, and I know a couple of guys that have done it previously. Oh man, I can't remember the name of the guy. There's a there's a guy in New Jersey, he he helped to uh to save the course down there near Philly, Stafford Woods.

SPEAKER_06

Jersey Mike? No, Jersey Mike.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, what the heck's that guy's name? He's uh he's a nice guy. But like he played on it, and then uh the other two guys that I know that have been playing in it are Chris Villa. He's a Philadelphia guy for every like masters competition, international or you know, world championship. He's always up there.

SPEAKER_10

Does he have a brother named Bob?

SPEAKER_02

Not to my knowledge, but he is uh I'm pretty sure he is a home inspector, so they could be related.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, same family, same family business.

SPEAKER_02

But yeah, so I I know Chris has done it before, and then Kevin Gleason's another guy. It's funny, like I know a lot of guys that are on the masters team, but I don't know anybody that's on the pro team.

SPEAKER_06

It just means you're getting old, man.

SPEAKER_02

I well, it's funny because I'll be I'll be I'll be eligible next year for the for the masters team. So I'm hoping that maybe if I you know don't totally screw up, I can just get myself on the uh the masters roster next year.

SPEAKER_06

So it is a yearly thing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it seems like it's going to be, which is interesting. I mean, I I was surprised that there wasn't like more interest because basically it was like as long as you could pay your way to Lithuania, which you know not everybody can, certainly. They basically just went by force rank your rating and went down and just called people up. And my rating's pretty good right now, just because I had a couple of really good like tournaments last year. So I you know, I I was up there. But yeah, there's really no like pros. Like Leah Siagini, Sinogenny is gonna be on the uh the pro team, so she's one of the FPO players, but yeah, the highest rated guy is Chris, and he's he's a thousand nine, and then everybody else is like also just around like a thousand rated. One of the guys is actually an Amherst guy. Have you guys heard of James Cairn?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, isn't wait, James Cairn.

SPEAKER_02

That name is so familiar. He's a thousand six rated and from Amherst.

SPEAKER_08

You guys might be thinking of James Cameron, who's the new one.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, there's that two.

SPEAKER_08

No, or Joe Cairn?

SPEAKER_10

No. James Cairn. Oh, yeah, this dude. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I gotta Facebook him. You said Massachusetts, right? Yeah, he's Amherst uh MPO player, classic dude.

SPEAKER_02

Nice. He plays Team Challenge, I'm pretty sure. Oh, I bet. Yeah, so he's on the team. He's second best. Villa's actually playing both. He's playing Masters and he's playing for the pro team because he's he's good enough to do that. He was actually on Maple Hill Diamonds. We we played them last year.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I played against him too.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay. How'd that go?

SPEAKER_07

Smoked him in doubles, actually. Oh, really?

SPEAKER_10

Oh, great. He's really good, but isn't Diamonds who we beat twice in finals to move up to B-pool after I think we lost to them every other time? Something like that. I forget. I'm not a historian. Jamie would be able to correct me if he wasn't in freaking Maine.

SPEAKER_02

I'm pretty sure you're right in that, Corey. Was Diamonds is that is that the one with uh the gauges on Benson? Yes. Yeah, okay. They also kicked our butt at FDR two years ago, I think.

SPEAKER_08

No, you guys beat him.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, did we?

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. I don't know if they didn't travel with everybody or what, but you guys saved the foundation.

SPEAKER_02

That's right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, you're totally right. Yep. I forgot about that. That must have been one of my first matches for for Wedge.

SPEAKER_06

Like Corey, Ryan's not the historian on his team.

SPEAKER_02

So nope.

SPEAKER_06

Awesome. I was thinking just the time of year might be tough. You know, I mean, it's the beginning of the like school year. That's a tough time, I think, to go out of the country, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, the competition is five days. You want to get there early and practice. So like I'm taking off like a Friday, and then luckily Labor Day is Labor. It's also Labor Day weekend. So a lot of people probably don't want to might not want to do that. They want to do stuff with their family. So, you know, I'm taking five days off. There's like stipend for food and for stuff when we're over there. They actually got some really sweet jerseys. We're each getting like four t-shirt type jerseys with like this, you know, sweet team USA, you know, get your name on the back and everything, and the logo, and we're getting these awesome like sun hoodies as well. You could order extras. So, of course, my entire family, like some of my friends, wanted a bunch. So the swag is pretty cool. So I'm excited to have like Fourth of July outfits for the next foreseeable future. Because they're all decked out in red, white, and blue, which should be pretty sweet.

SPEAKER_06

They don't look like Where's Waldo?

SPEAKER_02

No, they're oh, one of them kind of does. The red one kind of does, but it's like it's the same pattern, but there's a there's a red one, a blue one, a white one, and then like a gradient, red and blue one. That's pretty cool. And that's the same as like the the sun hoodie. It's like that gradient. So I'm pretty excited for the just for the swag alone.

SPEAKER_06

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_02

The other thing I'm looking forward to is like apparently, I mean, it's gonna be cool just to play against you know people from 32 different countries, you know. And apparently it's uh a tradition to like exchange some sort of like a token, you know, like a gift with uh with whoever you're playing. So one of the people on the team is like getting these sweet like team USA minis so we can hand out in exchange with uh with whoever we play. So I'll come back with uh you know a whole slew of pins and minis and bottle openers and stuff like that from uh from all these different countries, which should be pretty awesome.

SPEAKER_06

I figure you you just grab a bag of Osage oranges and bring them out there.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, but that's not a bad idea.

SPEAKER_06

Like, what is this? It's it's it's it's an orange. They've been rotten in my bag for a week. Enjoy.

SPEAKER_07

Listeners, please don't transport native plants to other countries.

SPEAKER_02

That's cool. I'll definitely um you know come back after. It's so funny. So the the guy that called me when I was in Milan, he's actually a friend of mine, which you know you would think, okay, so that's how you got on the team, Ryan. But he's like, no, seriously, like you're next up on the list if you want to play. This guy, Nick Wilder, used to live in Easton, uh, where I was out in uh in Pennsylvania, and he actually got a job. He used to work for the um the Iron Pigs, which is like, you know, a triple A baseball team. I think it's in Bethlehem or something like that, maybe Allentown. And he did like all of their like promotional stuff in marketing. He actually staged a tournament that we did at the stadium, at the Iron Pig Stadium, which was pretty cool. But he got a job down at the PDGA and he's one of the like the membership coordinators. So he like manages the membership program. So obviously when Doug Bierkus came in and they made all those changes to what you're paying for for your membership, like got rid of the you know, magazine and and all that good stuff, like a lot of that was stuff that he was involved in, I guess implementing and rolling out. I'm not sure you know how much influence he had on what to do, but uh so it's funny. So he's down to the PDGA, he moved down to Georgia, and he was the one that called me because he's the one that's coordinating for the team, and it was uh it was pretty funny. But the reason I bring him up is I could probably get him on to chat about it like after the the competition is over, too, Pat. So something something to consider. He's uh he's a nice guy.

SPEAKER_06

Absolutely.

Summer Battle Royale Update

SPEAKER_06

All right. A couple of you guys had summer battle royale matches though, right?

SPEAKER_02

I did.

SPEAKER_06

Brian, Evan, Corey, anybody else? Evan, we haven't heard from you much this evening. Who did you play and when did you play and how did it go?

SPEAKER_05

I played against JJ Knapp, my good good friend, Tower of Power. I was still captaining when JJ came aboard. Just one of my very favorite people to hang out with and play disc golf. When did we play? I guess it was probably not long after we got back from Long Island. So we agreed to play at SPW because I live really close to Prospect, and he lives really close to Central, so those feel like kind of home courses. We have history at Wallace, so we played SPW Whites. I remember it was early and the ground was pretty soggy, which is not surprising. We had a great match. I feel like I went up, he got a point back, I went up again, he got it back, I went up, and then he didn't get him back. I got a few coming down the stretch, and I think I took it down three and two. So unfortunately, that sent JJ out of the battle royale, sad to say, but it means I do get to play Dennis next. And I saw Dennis tonight at dubs, so we started talking a little about when and where we might want to do that.

SPEAKER_06

Nothing official though?

SPEAKER_05

No, nothing on the calendar yet. I don't feel like he and I are behind schedule with the rest of the bracket, but we'll try and get it done sooner than later.

SPEAKER_06

Alright. Corey, who did you play?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, so me and Jamin. Uh well, actually, I got a message from Brandon, like, hey, you guys can do your match, and I'm like, Ugh. Yeah, we kind of keep putting this off. So I messaged Jamin, and this is you know, he said that he's going to Maine this week, so he's gonna be out. And I'm like, all right, well, what if I leave work a little bit early? I have to be in Albany Thursday night, anyways, for adult kickball. And I basically, you know, I figured that we could probably meet up before that. So I kind of wanted to not pull any more shisty maneuvers like Ryan Nelson wanted to do by picking courses that were not in the list of courses for that level. Okay, I just figured you know, I try to make it a little bit easier for Jamin, pick something that's north of Albany or so or closer to Albany, and then you know, flaunted Shenantaha or CPS. We decided to go to Central Park, play from the blues. The first six holes, I think, we pushed, and then once we got to I think it was hole seven, which plays from the near the pavilion. I ended up getting five in a row. Then we get to the back part of the course, and we just kind of continued the pushes. And I believe he got one on me on the par five in the back. Oh yeah, I I he definitely did. I went OB. But then I think I won five and four or something like that. So it was somewhere around there. But it was a nice day, and uh, we kind of told we but we kind of both agreed that it was a win-win. Either you win and you move on, or like you said, Pat, you don't gotta worry about it anymore. So I kind of made it a little easier for both of us.

SPEAKER_06

I think so. With you winning, that means you got Alex next. Does that sound right?

SPEAKER_10

Yep. The rematch.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Nothing planned.

SPEAKER_10

No, Alex has been much too busy to even consider talking about it.

SPEAKER_08

This is the first I heard that they had even done it.

SPEAKER_10

So I was waiting on you this whole time.

SPEAKER_08

I I was not aware that the bracket had advanced.

SPEAKER_10

No, we'll figure it out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

All right. Ryan, you played uh Summer Battle Royale match. Who'd you play and how'd it go?

SPEAKER_02

I did. I did. I played uh Justin Park in round three on the winner side, which just happens to be the RPI bracket, apparently, or RPI round, because you've got Justin Muchelli. I don't know how how do you pronounce his name? Muchelli or something.

SPEAKER_05

There's a thing of Moochelli, but then a little alley at the end.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Well, I was looking at it. It's funny because like if Jason ever plays this tournament, which you know may or may not happen, if he beats Nick Warren and Nick Cardone, then round three could have been all RPI grads. Justin M, Justin P, myself, and Jason, which would be interesting. But yeah, I played uh Justin Park, just like Corey said, I've been trying to get people to come down my way so I don't have to drive all the way up to the Capitol District. And so Alden and I had played at J Park, J South, and then uh Corey and I played 27 at Wilcox, and that's what I conned Justin Park into doing was coming down to Wilcox. And I wanted to play the same layout. I wanted to try to play red front, red hatchet, and blue back because I think it's a pretty fair layout. And had I known that Justin Park could throw, you know, a mile both forehand and backhand, probably would have protested playing what we did, which was blues on the regular 19, as well as um the hatchet red, which I think definitely favored him a little bit more than I was anticipating. I mean, he's just got an absolute bomb of a forehand, and uh he was just playing lights out to start on the blues. So I, you know, I was just hoping to be able to get him. As soon as I realized that he had a massive forehand, I I just wanted to try to get him into the hatchet, so I thought I could pick up a couple of uh strokes on him there. Unfortunately, I was like two back going into the hatchet, and within the first like four holes, like he actually had gotten another one on me because he had birdied like four straight and I had only three of them or something like that. So he ended up finishing it up at the back of the hatchet holes. I had a chance on I think eight to hit a putt to come within one, but I got a roll away and he took that one, and so I was three back going into the last hatchet hole, and uh I botched that one too. So he won four with three, and uh I'm now patiently awaiting, I guess, some combination of Travis, John Kirby, or Corey or Alex or no Alex, yeah, Alex or Corey or Travis, I think.

SPEAKER_08

I'm looking at the bracket right now, and I don't know where you ended up in the bracket, but it looks like you need John Kirby and Nick Warren to play their game. Okay. Or is it Nick Warren? I think we need to determine if Nick Warren is in that, because I think this is my prediction. Hold on, let me look at the actual bracket.

SPEAKER_10

Well, social is Jason the Sasso or Nick Warren from round one.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they need to play.

SPEAKER_08

They need to play.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, especially for Justin Park or the real JP.

SPEAKER_08

I was looking at the wrong thing. Never mind. You are just looking at the Travis match and whoever he plays against, and then the Alex and Corey match, they'll play, and then winners of that one, plus a loser from the winner's bracket will play, and one of them will play you.

SPEAKER_02

Good lord. Interesting. Alright. Well, yeah, I mean, the thing is though Jason and Nick have to play because I found out that Justin Park is leaving the country soon. And so it's like, I hope we get to like finish this tournament before uh before he disappears.

SPEAKER_06

Permanently or just for vacation?

SPEAKER_02

No, for uh for the f foreseeable future. Foreseeable future. Oh yes, for uh for work or research or something.

SPEAKER_06

Is he the the the earth guy?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's a rock archaeologist, yeah. That's his uh his license plate.

SPEAKER_06

He's a doctor. We don't have good rocks here, is that what he's saying? That's what it sounds like. You don't like our rocks?

SPEAKER_05

He's already checked out all our rocks, he's gotta move on. That's true. Such a nice guy, too.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, I think we're supposed to be calling him Dr. Park, by the way. Dr. Justin Bark. Dr. Rox? Dr. Rocks. I like Dr. Rox.

SPEAKER_02

He claimed he was the real JP because right now his rating is higher than uh John JP Hafner. So he uh he he currently owns the JP moniker.

SPEAKER_08

He's Dr. JP.

SPEAKER_02

Dr. JP.

SPEAKER_08

Dr. JP.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's a good player and a and a super nice guy. And it's uh sad that he's leaving. Absolutely. We'd love to have played with him again. Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Well, you probably can when you go to Lithuania, you can probably meet up with him, it's probably not that far away.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, all those places are like Next door neighbors, right?

Last Week in Disc Golf Wednesday and Thursday

SPEAKER_06

Let's pause a minute and take a look at some of the results from the last week in disc golf. Wednesday, we got Stony Kill Random Dubs week eighteen. Randy, you played. How'd that go?

SPEAKER_07

It went great. We did the same layout again. So 20 holes all on the back nine, you know, including the the two extras. I think we had a similar turnout, maybe a little bit more than the the first week back. Great night. And yeah, me and my partner shot hot and took it down.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, three teams tied for second. Sam Richter and Jacob Steinman, Adam Nelson and Peter Novo, and Denny Daley and Brett Racine all shot minus 13, but you guys shot minus 15. A lot of birdies. Adam and Peter won the birdie bank, got him five points. Tyler Kakaroff got a CTP on 17, 20 bucks. Troy got CTP on hole 12 for 20 bucks. No aces were hit. It's been a bit, but we've got some results for Deadbeat dubs. How'd that go, Jack?

SPEAKER_01

Nine souls shot yellows. Ryan Curtis shot minus 13, broke the bank, and aced hole eight. Pretty good shift.

SPEAKER_06

Shen Creek Dubs week 22 had a tie for second place. Joe Riley and Joe Panessa shot a minus 11, so did Jeff Wychowski and Jesse Nyman. Jack Fructor and Jared Borelli are your winners, they shot minus 13. Poor Jervis Disc Golf Club Bag Tag League was at Peppa Cating this week. George Henry told his captain and Peter Newland tied for second place, they shot minus two, and Michael Ortez was your winner. He shot minus three. And uh Discap Pro League, you played like a Safari round at J Park?

SPEAKER_10

I think Justin put it in as like the J Degenerate uh layout. But it was, I mean, it is obviously a a layout you would not be able to do with like you can never do like a tournament with that layout because there's a lot of crossing fairways. But it was just really fun. Uh we had five people, I think, myself, Justin Park, Justin Michelle, Leighton Scott, and then Megan Mercier, which was cool because there's like some long shots and and all of us can throw you know fairly far, uh, or at least relatively. I mean, Justin Park will will crush us, but uh, you know, Megan throws far, Layton throws far. I'm not even gonna go through what the holes were. Maybe uh when you drop the episode, we'll like share a layout picture or something in the um in the Facebook comments. But it was just fun to play some of the holes a little bit differently. There was like some classic safari layout holes like hole ten to hole eleven, hole eight to hole nine. We played the Lasasso Krakenhole over the pond, but we also did some other fun holes like hole 11 to hole 13 or hole 12 to hole nine, which is uh like I don't know, probably 900 feet par five. So it was just it was really fun. It was a great day. I'm glad he he came up with it. There was also on the flip side, there was also like a 50 foot hole where we played hole 32's T Ped to hole 31's basket. If you could picture that, then you know what I'm talking about. But I did take a three on a 50-foot hole.

SPEAKER_06

How many people would be too many people to play that layout, in your opinion? Like how many cards?

SPEAKER_10

Maybe four. I think maybe more three or four, depending on how you space them out. But there's there's definitely some some blind shots or just like crossing fairways. Uh it could get pretty interesting if you had more than three cards, maybe. I won the Safari layout with a 60, uh, with a 63 over Mucelli, who shot a 67. And at least right now the schedule says Jay North.

SPEAKER_06

And you beat Dr. Rox.

SPEAKER_10

I beat Dr. Rox. I knocked his rocks off. I don't know if I that's what I wanted to say. But yeah, I beat Dr. Rox.

SPEAKER_06

On Thursdays, we got Discbeat Club.

SPEAKER_00

How'd it go, Robo Kevin Cronkey? What a great day. 22 players, which tied the turnout record, two aces, and a whole lot of fun. Isaiah Mercer took down the win, Lou Davis kept the Watchco Boys in the money with second, Devin Lamke and Martha Idea tied for third, and there was a three-way tie for fourth, between Dave Aidy, Mark Stryker, and Kathleen Bemis. However, the big winners were Dave A and myself. For the first time, we had two aces in one round during Disc beat. Dave hit nine, I hit 11, and we split the $300. We left a buck for the next pot. Can't wait until next Thursday, to see how we top this. If you haven't played Disc beat club, you don't know what you're missing. Best daytime and best handicapped league in all of Discap Land.

SPEAKER_06

CPS Thursday Dubs Week 18 had a three-way tie for first, that's a theme this week. Earl Steinberg and Cody Canine shot a minus 10, so did Cody H and Denny Deli. And Christopher Evanchuk and Nicholas Alcatraz at Cats. Okay DGC Dubs League, Joel and Mindy Potts came in second place. Cole R and Dustin Bolduck are your winners. They shot minus two. Long Island Disc Golf Thursday dubs, another tie for third place. Joe Curry and Paul Schiartino shot minus 15. So did Josh Winkler and Brian Bowe. And Adrian Hurtado and Jack Wilbur shot 15

Alex at 2026 PDGA Am Worlds

SPEAKER_06

as well. Yeah, the only other thing that I was thinking. Alex, did you do anything this past week?

SPEAKER_08

I just kind of hung out for a while, you know. No, I was at uh PDGAM Worlds this past week, which was uh a ton of fun.

SPEAKER_06

You mean the 2026 PDG Amateur Disc Golf World Championships in Buffalo, New York, tournament director Sam Castiglione, assistant tournament director James Carmen. That's the uh the New York person, right?

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, the the director. Coordinator event coordinator, that's the word.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, we talked to him. All right. 342 people, which we learned causes lag on certain picking sites.

SPEAKER_08

Oh gosh, I completely forgot about the picking.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, there were picks, yeah. This was Tuesday through Saturday, right? Well, it was it was Tuesday through Friday, and then Saturday if you made the cut, basically. Correct, yeah.

SPEAKER_08

All right. Well, how was your week? Could have been a lot worse. Um, I've got some family friends out in Buffalo, so I was able to come out a little bit early. I went out Sunday and played a couple of practice rounds, then did some more practice on Monday. So I felt like I was, you know, reasonably prepared for the tournament to start. I was able to meet up with Tyler Gannon to get some practice round at Royalton on that Sunday. Then I went and did the Black Diamond at Emery, played about half that and decided that I was going to not play the last half because uh I was no longer throwing productive disc golf shots. I was just kind of making myself tired. After you know, five hours of driving and an entire previous round, I think that's pretty reasonable. I think that might have been the best decision I had made that uh that weekend, because I just know if I had you know tried to push through that round, uh I would not have been feeling 100% for the first round.

SPEAKER_06

So how many different courses do you play?

SPEAKER_08

So there were four courses to play, but MA1 only played three of them, and FA1 played three of them as well, but each division had one that only they played. Like I don't think FA1 played Royalton Ravine, and I don't think Ma1 played what's it, Como Sullivan. I do say Como Lake? I should know this. Lighthouse Disc golf course at Como Lake. Como Lake, that's what it was. Yeah. But yeah, so so three different courses, and we're guaranteed to play Royalton twice, and we would potentially play Bond Lake twice, but you'd only ever play Emery once, Black Diamond and Emery.

SPEAKER_06

Because if you played a second round, you would be Emery board. I guess so.

SPEAKER_02

Stop nice. That was quality. That was quality.

SPEAKER_08

I'm sorry, Alex, continue. Super great courses, you know, in super uh really good shape. You could tell people spent a lot of time working on them. I really enjoyed them. Uh, you know, there's a lot of times when I can travel to courses and feel like, you know, 75% of these holes are just unbirdiable for for somebody of my caliber. And I think they did a really good job of managing that, where I would say m pretty much every hole bar, maybe 10% over all three courses, were birdieable in some capacity. You might have to have two pretty good shots, but it wasn't the super high-level, like pro-level Maple Hill Golds or something like that, where it's just not a not a thing for amateur level players. Had you ever been to Buffalo before? I have been to Buffalo before. Yeah, like I said, I have I've got some family friends out there, so I've sort of done all the um the touristy things. Went to see the falls the previous time, you know, got plenty of Buffalo wings, that that sort of thing. So I was free to focus on disc all for this trip. So the first round was at Bond Lake, and this was probably the one that I thought was the hardest of the three with the layout that they had done. A couple of early early round jitters took a bogey on the second hole, was able to bounce back with a birdie on the third, and then took a seven on a par five for the fourth hole, and it's you know, it's sort of how it goes. It's a difficult hole, but I made it much more difficult than it had to be. Got a bad kick into some Obi, it happens, but then bounced back with three birdies in a row after that, and you know, it was kind of smooth sailing, you know, got the jitters out, pretty calm for the for the rest of the round until the very end. I knew I was sitting even and I was thinking I might have to push. So a little bit about the format. So there's uh an A pool and a B pool for the MA1 players. A pool was the top half by rating, B pool was the bottom half by rating, I was in B pool, as you might guess. But after the first two rounds, there was supposed to be a reshuffle. So if you're in the top 50% after the first two rounds, you get bumped up to the A pool. So that was my goal for the weekend was you know, if I can get on the good shy a good side of the reshuffle, I'll be feeling pretty good about things. So I went a little bit aggressive. The last hole was another par five, took another OB, ended up with another seven, which is a little bit disappointing

OB or Not OB?

SPEAKER_08

way to end it. I was able to scrap uh scrape back a stroke off of uh an OB clarification, so I finished that out at plus two.

SPEAKER_06

You sent us a picture from that first picture. Didn't anybody think he was gonna be OB?

SPEAKER_10

From what I remember, is it looked like the disc was in like a a bushy area, right?

SPEAKER_06

I could send him again quick. Oh yeah, it was basically there were two stakes and they had a rope in the stakes, and the rope was slack. So if you went by the rope, he was OB, but if you looked at the two stakes, you were like, No, there's there's no way. And if you pulled it taut, same thing, you'd be like, No, he's in bounds. I was just curious what people thought.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, yeah. I didn't go, I don't remember what I was doing when you sent these, but like how loose the string looked, I couldn't tell if that's because there was another stake missing. Like, and I'm assuming you're gonna post these pictures in like the episode Facebook page or whatever, but at least the first one you sent, like Alex, it seems like if the if there was another stake between where your disc is and that guy is standing that would help the string stay taut, it's definitely OB. But I guess if you play between the stakes, like it looks like you guys did, then it's definitely inbounds. So that's where I was like, Well, I don't know, is there something that's a stake over there? Because you're like, you're still definitely what is the purpose of of the OB to like mark out this weedy area.

SPEAKER_08

I couldn't tell you why they had that OB there. I just know that it was there.

SPEAKER_10

Kind of a shit sandwich situation though, for sure. So what what they say, they said to pull the string taut and then call it like that.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, so they did say you're you're allowed to you know return the course to how it is intended to be. So um pull the string taut is is effectively what he had said.

SPEAKER_10

Wait, well, who makes that call? Have you never played it before? How do you know what the what it's intended to be?

SPEAKER_08

They clarified that it in general it's intended to be, you know, stake to stake, but otherwise it's uh like it it is the rope. But then the other thing they said was there were staples down, staples in certain positions where the rope was stapled down and it changed the direction of the rope without there being a stake there. Luckily that was not this situation, but they did say he can't pull up any of the staples to do anything like that. But if there is no staple, then it's meant to be you know taut.

SPEAKER_02

Interesting. That's confusing. It's either the rope or without a rope, it's the stakes, like straight line between the stakes. Very confusing. Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

We were able to clarify with the course marshal at the end that uh what we had done with pulling it taught was was the correct thing, so I was in bounds and yay, saved me a stroke at the end.

SPEAKER_06

Did you play a provisional?

SPEAKER_08

Uh I didn't, with the idea that as they had clarified in the rules uh before, if the only question is whether it's inbounds or out of bounds, and otherwise the lie is the same, which it effectively would have been. Um you don't want to do a provisional for that. I also knew I didn't want to throw out my arm because you know, coming off of a a bunch of disc golf and going into a bunch of disc golf on the next view, if I didn't have to take any more throws, I would prefer not to. Absolutely.

Alex at 2026 PDGA Am Worlds

SPEAKER_08

All right, so that was Tuesday, right? That was Tuesday, yeah. Wasn't there some weather too? Not that we really noticed. Uh, you know, it was it was pretty uh humid, but for the most part, things were pretty calm. There were no lightning delays? Uh not till Wednesday.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, when okay. I thought that was Tuesday. When I'm editing, I don't know what day it is, so okay. Yeah, after Tuesday, what was going on? Was there anything? Because they have the the little after party things. Well, I will say, while you're thinking you shot a 69, which is nice.

SPEAKER_08

Nice.

SPEAKER_06

For no reason whatsoever, Ethan Hatter shot a 53. Just throwing it out there.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. To be fair, Ethan was playing Royalton for round one. So uh he was playing a different course that I thought was a little bit easier. But yeah, Ethan was was in A-pool and he was playing really well. So the Fly Mart, which is, you know, just effectively vendors, local disc golf people, non-local disc golf people. I went to that after my rounds, uh, checked things out, saw Greg Hill. Greg was one in like a little part two, or not part two, but uh a little putting obstacle course thing, like you've seen him do at you know disc east or any number of other things. Jay Gorsage was out there helping him out. He was using his disc golf leagues app to do scoring for that, which was really cool. I did not putt very well at that, but uh as long as I'm putting all right on the course, uh uh that's where I prefer to have it. Round two was at Royalton, which I think was my favorite of the three courses. I thought this course was relatively easy, and I had played well enough to earn myself a pretty late starting time. I think I had a 153 starting time, and as I'm driving there, I get the alert that uh there's been a rain delay, and I'm like, all right, well, we knew it was coming, it was on the forecast, you know, hopefully it's not too long. You said you're staying with family and such, family friends? Uh I was about a half hour to 40 minutes away from all three courses that we played. So pretty centrally located. It was nice. The initial backup pushed us back, uh, I want to say about an hour and a half, two hours. I can't remember what my interim uh tea time was, but it was something like 2.45 or something like that. And as the cart ahead of me is teeing off, we get another lightning delay. So we're backed up another hour. I don't end up teeing off until 4.45, which is really not what you're looking for. I'm just kind of sitting in my car. You know, it's it's raining, but it's not coming down too hard. The rule for lightning is it's a minimum half hour, right, from the last strike? Minimum half hour from the last strike. So if you get another strike at 29 minutes, that's another half hour to back you up. That's how it gets extended into these big long delays. But as we're teeing off, you know, we're we're kind of talking with the TDs and trying to figure out, you know, how's things gonna work? You know, we're starting almost five o'clock and we've got four cards behind us. What happens if people don't finish? And the rumor was they wouldn't do a reshuffle because if you reshuffled, it would make things all sorts of complicated with, you know, some people would have to come back to Royalton for their uh for the end of the round the next morning and then immediately run over to the other course for their next round, you know, like 15 minutes later or something like that. And just to avoid that, they were just gonna not do the reshuffle. You'd do the rest of your round if you didn't finish, and then you'd still be at that same course for for your round three. And now that's the course you like though, right? That is the course I liked, but I was I was gonna end up playing it twice no matter what. Okay. It was just a matter of what order I would play it in. And obviously, I want to be on the good side of the reshuffle, like like I was talking about. That's you know, sort of my goal for the round. But the only thing we can do at this point is, you know, just play as well as we can. I decided I wanted to take 14 pars this round. Luckily, most of them were pretty low stress pars. I was saying pretty much the whole weekend, I was giving myself 12 footers and really racking up uh C1X putting stats, because it's technically not a tap-in, because I'm just outside of the the little white whiskers that mark the bullseye.

SPEAKER_06

So you were playing Randy Golf.

SPEAKER_08

Exactly. Nothing wrong with that. Really would have been nice if I could have uh picked up a couple more birdies. But I ended up going two birdies, two bogies for even on the round, which I definitely felt like I could have done better. You know, sort of my target after practice was three or four down, but it was enough to to get me in the top 50%. Technically achieved the goal, even if they didn't actually reshuffle.

SPEAKER_06

So you shot a 62, Ethan on a different course, mind you, but still he shot a 60. No reason for the for these updates. I'm just throwing them out there.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, no, he was playing Bond Lake, so he shot nine strokes better than I did at Bond.

SPEAKER_06

I wasn't gonna say that part out loud, Alex, but okay.

SPEAKER_08

But yeah, we wrapped up our round at 8 o'clock, and the four cards behind us somehow got done. Like I could not tell you how they got done, but by 8 30, when the sun had well and truly gone down, everyone had finished their round. So uh we did end up getting the reshuffle in.

SPEAKER_06

What I read was last Monday was the last day of the year that the sun would go down after eight o'clock.

SPEAKER_08

I don't know how they got it done, but cannot complain because uh we got the reshuffle in. Unfortunately, that meant I was now the bottom of A pool. You can be the top 40% of the entire tournament, but uh that makes you bottom 10% of uh the top half or whatever, whatever the actual numbers are there. So early rounds, round three, and it turns out the rain didn't affect me at all because I shot even, and this was at Royalton again, so uh shot even for the second time in a row. Same deal, you know, made a couple more mistakes, fixed some of the mistakes from the previous day, but definitely left a couple strokes out there. But you know, I'm still averaging right around 950 golf, so I can't complain. That's 30 points over my rating. So not too upset with that.

SPEAKER_06

Uh so we're looking at 69, 62, 62 for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Ethan, uh he was at Royalton, right? Yep. Ethan and I are now in the same pool. Okay, yeah. So he got a 53.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, he shot real well.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like we're holding Alex to this impossible standard right now. It's like, well, Ethan shot this. Yeah, you couldn't hang with it.

SPEAKER_08

We gotta keep an eye on Ethan. We definitely gotta keep an eye on Ethan. I know I was. Not trying to compare him or shadowing.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I'm just letting people know where other things are at, because obviously you were there playing, you didn't have a chance to watch him play, so we we only got numbers. So we're Thursday night now. Anything notable in any of those nights?

SPEAKER_08

They did the players' party on Thursday night. Yeah, unfortunately, the the Wednesday events, I'm not sure exactly what they were doing. Looking at the event notes, it says there was disc golf trivia, high-stakes putting, and live music from five to nine. You didn't finish until almost exactly. By the time I finished, like if I went straight from the course to there, I would have gotten there at like 8 45 or something like that.

SPEAKER_06

So and I bet it wasn't disc or no disc anyway, so who cares? You know? Exactly. Exactly.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, Thursday was the players' party. They gave you a little dinner voucher, ice cream voucher to go get some food from a food truck, and there was some live music. They had some putting and mini course, like putting with minis and throwing minis and and things like that. I didn't stay there too long. I had an early morning again, but it was a cool little uh little thing that they had going on. Round four is at Emory Park, Black Diamond in Emery Park. I enjoyed this course, but I was thinking it was probably right in the middle of the two as far as difficulty-wise. Unfortunately, I was right next to Bobby Hallam and I got split from him because of the way tiebreakers work. He was on the card behind me, I was on the card ahead of him. We were doing the math at the beginning because we were, you know, sitting waiting for our tea times. And in order to hit the cut line to play on Saturday, you had to be top 25%. And at that point, it was like minus two, minus three for the entire tournament. Bobby and I are sitting at plus two for the event, so we've got to shoot like four or five down, and we math that out to be approximately a 10-10 rated round, which it's not likely. Not saying it's impossible.

SPEAKER_06

What's the highest rated round you've played, like in competition, do you know?

SPEAKER_08

Like 980 something. Okay. 980 something with a really stupid triple bogey at the very end, which was at Wilcox not too long ago. So it's possible. And this is a course that's you know, it's a pretty bomber course. Honestly, if you think FDR with a little more elevation change, you're you're pretty dang close. Took a birdie on the first hole, took a couple bogies later. I was plus two going into 13, and I hit a birdie. So going into 14, I'm plus one. You know, if I get birdie out from here, that's approximately four down. It's it's not impossible. I've got like a 45-foot putt with OB directly behind it on 14 for birdie. And I'm like, I'm not gonna do anything stupid, I'm just gonna lay it up. And I throw my shot, it hits a root, and stands up and rolls OB anyway. That was the backbreaker. I was I was pretty much done from there. You know, tapped in my bogey to go to plus two, and I'm like, if I really birdie out from here, you know, maybe that there's a couple of eagle opportunities, maybe, but it it just wasn't it wasn't in the cards for me at that point, which is, you know, unfortunate, but honestly, ending up anywhere near the top half of the list. I think in my early goals for the year from the podcast, you know, back in January, I think I just said I didn't want to embarrass myself at worlds. I think the biggest like play goal is not embarrassed myself at uh M Worlds. I think I did a pretty good job of that.

SPEAKER_06

So your worst round was still what 24 points better than your rating? Yeah. It was par 70? That was the one.

SPEAKER_08

It was a very long course. Like I said, it was pretty dang close to an FDR where you know you've got these par 5s and par fours out there with some OB around. But you know, that's sort of the disc golf that I want to be playing. You know, I want I want to have the the challenge be the distance as opposed to you know super technical, tight wooded stuff. I was gonna say, would you have preferred to play that one twice? In hindsight, maybe. You know, given how I had played, probably not. Um I took a lot of stupid bogeys on that one, and there were really some some opportunities to get in some really bad spots, especially early on. Basically, all of them I feel like I could have played a little bit better, except for Bond. I think I played about how I expected to at Bond, but the other three rounds I feel like I could have done a little bit better. Did you get any practice at Emery? Yeah. I played half a round and then walked the rest of it. So like I was aware of what was coming. I just didn't play all of it.

SPEAKER_06

Even playing one practice round, if you played the the entire round, you're not gonna know about those little roots.

SPEAKER_08

Yep. So at that point I was like tied for 120th or something like that. It would take a very spectacularly bad round from everyone above me in order to bump me in. So I started off for home, kept an eye on you know some of the other things. Jeremy Casper was was so close to getting there. You know, obviously Ethan Hatters was doing super well, so I was keeping an eye on those. But yeah, no, ended up tied for 117th out of 284, which puts me at like 40, 41 percent of the field. If I was playing pro, I probably would have gotten paid out. So can't complain too much there.

SPEAKER_06

And Ethan shot a 63 in round four, so he's 53, 60, 53, 63.

SPEAKER_10

Ethan was one back of the lead after round one, two strokes back from the lead after round two, round three, he clawed back, and now he's tied for the lead at 25 down total, with the same kid I believe he was battling with at Junior Worlds, and then after round four, he had a two-stroke lead over second place. So he's battling the entire time.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. You were already on your way home. Yeah, I was on my way home because I had an early tea time, I was able to drive home, you know, no problem on Friday. So Saturday I was home and keeping track of uh everybody online. Well, I say everybody. It turns out of the locals, Ethan was the only one who made the top 25 cut. It turned out that I didn't need the you know four or five down round that I needed. The cut line ended up being at even for the event. So, you know, if I had just been able to shoot two down, maybe something could have happened. You start thinking back to you know, all the places he could have saved, one or two strokes, you know, going back to round one, playing super aggressive when I didn't need to. But um, you know, that's golf. You can't you can't be thinking about things too much. There's always gonna be opportunities where I could have done just a little bit better. Absolutely. So you said even par was the cut? Yeah, even par for the event was the cut line.

SPEAKER_06

So Carter Thorn Connellis plus one. You mentioned him a little bit ago. Jeremy Cashbrick plus two, Winter Thorn Canellis plus two, Leighton Brinster plus three. So I mean there were a few people, like you said, that were pretty close.

SPEAKER_08

Bobby Hallum also missed the cut just barely, just off that last round. He ended up shooting plus eight for the event. Okay, yeah. Bryant Chamberlain, he's a big name in in team challenge. He he was plus twelve overall.

SPEAKER_06

Nobody that made the cut that I recognize. I do see a couple of Yoders, which I heard when we were doing picks, but we'll get to that shortly.

Ethan Hadders Wins MA1 Amateur World Championship

SPEAKER_06

Who here was following Ethan in the last round?

SPEAKER_10

I think everybody and the entire North well, at least definitely in everybody and their mother. Yeah, everyone was watching this. It was it was crazy.

SPEAKER_08

We saw Greg Kurtz on the course in round four, so I assume he stuck around to support him there.

SPEAKER_10

Ethan literally he put the pedal to the metal. He was going into the finals with a two-stroke lead over Gavin Bednar, and I believe they finished at Bond Lake, which they played round two, and Ethan shot a seven down, and Gavin shot a 12 down. So they hadn't played Bond Lake since that round, and they're going through it for the final, and Ethan is up against the guy that popped off at the course previously.

SPEAKER_05

The thing that impressed me looking at it, as the final round was happening, I was looking back and he didn't have the hot round in any of the first four rounds, but he did so consistently well that he was winning by two strokes going into the final and then just absolutely slayed. It was great.

SPEAKER_10

He went bogey free and basically for the most part matched Gavin's birdies with birdies of his own and picked up a couple extra. Hole ten, Ethan takes a birdie on a par four, Gavin takes a six, three-stroke swing. Next hole, hole eleven, three hundred and fifteen feet, Ethan aces during the final round of the amateur world championships, and Gavin takes a par, so another two-stroke swing. At this point, he's already up by like, I don't even know. Yeah, he's up by like six strokes at this point. So I I mean, I'm sure nerves are flying, but you know, I'm sure everyone that's looking at their phone or the computer screen is just like he just has to hold on. But he did more than just hold on, he buried him even more by picking up four more birdies in the last five holes. Even as they're coming into hole 16, it's like he's really about to do it. He's about to he just won junior worlds and he's about to crank out the entire amateur world championship as well. Seven stroke lead over a second place to win is crazy. And he he threw a 1062 rated round, which I think is his highest round so far, averaged 1031. I I think a lot of their guys he played against are thousand rated or or or pretty close to it.

SPEAKER_06

1032, 1019, 1025, 1019, 1062, and he's rated 999. I think his rating might go up, no?

SPEAKER_10

Oh yeah. He's currently 995, but I wouldn't bet against it. Yeah. Oh no, it is 999. Did these count yet?

SPEAKER_08

It wouldn't have counted for this one yet.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, so maybe this is when he was signed up.

SPEAKER_06

As of August 11th, it went up four. So it was 995, like you're saying, Corey, but I guess as of Tuesday, right before he started, he got up to 999.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, and I got the live scoring is just still showing his.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. That's cool.

SPEAKER_10

Is there a video of that ace? That round was filmed. I believe it's gonna be in the city. Yeah. I don't know how anybody else's Facebook feeds been looking, but I've been seeing pictures of Ethan from all over the place. He's on Team Innova, Innova's been posting about him, PGA accounts, PGA amateur accounts, other random disc golf, I want to call them influencers, but professional Facebook accounts. I I've just been seeing Ethan all over the place, and it's it's sick in a good way. In case that needed clarification.

SPEAKER_05

The best way. In hindsight, the fact that they let the amateur world champion compete in junior worlds doesn't seem fair, does it? Like those poor kids.

SPEAKER_06

Corey, if you're Ethan, so he's what, 16? If you're saying he could play two more years in so he's 17. Oh, I thought he was 16. Okay. My bad. What would you do, Corey, if you're Ethan? You've got one year of eligibility in both. Would you do it again?

SPEAKER_10

If it was me, I'd probably end it on like the high note. You know, I'd I won both. Like, what if you go back and people would be looking at you to do the same thing? Which I mean, to be honest, literally just winning amateur worlds at a junior world is a crazy thing to think. But he did that too. So I don't know. I don't really I'd be curious to know what Ethan's five-year plan is, I guess, for lack of a better phrase. Like, obviously, he's really good, but um, I said before, like he does a lot of other things that are not just disc golf, and I'm sure he's good at those things too. But if it was me, if I was Ethan, but I was still me, I'd be taking cash. I never I I've already passed out on a bunch, but that was the question. But if I was like, yeah, if I was my mind, my mindset.

SPEAKER_06

Corey, you just won Junior Worlds and then Amworlds. You've got one year of eligibility for definitely junior. Now, junior, he could be pro, no, and play juniors or no? Because I mean that's only age protected, right?

SPEAKER_10

I don't know. I I I thought you could before, but I I think I was corrected that no, it is it is for amateurs.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, well, that's fair. So, even with with that knowledge, what would you do as Corey Cook?

SPEAKER_10

I'd be taking money. I don't think Ethan's in it for the money. So, yeah, I mean, I've I've how many times I've lost to him this year alone and he hasn't accepted cash.

SPEAKER_05

Corey, do you think we're gonna get a commemorative stamp from Innova? Seems like a pretty big deal. Two-time world champ.

SPEAKER_10

They have to, if they haven't already. I'm sure they're talking to him.

SPEAKER_08

Uh yeah, I would hope so.

SPEAKER_10

I will buy two. Uh maybe, especially if they're halos, one will go on the wall.

SPEAKER_06

I hope they put it on a pig. What if it was in a halo?

SPEAKER_10

I'd buy one. Maybe two.

SPEAKER_06

Speculating here. Have you played with him, probably, would you argue, the most of anybody here?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I'd say so.

SPEAKER_06

What's his bag consist of?

SPEAKER_10

I'm sure he's throwing destroyers. I don't know if he's throwing T birds. I think he's putting with firefronts now. No, he's Swiss. He was throwing a lot of things. I think he's putting with like fireflies now, but yeah, I think he's got the classic Nebos in there.

SPEAKER_06

Most of what he has could be available in Halo.

SPEAKER_10

100%. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I was just curious. Not to make this all about Ethan, we gotta go back to Alex for a moment. That was a pretty strong showing at Amrolls. Do we know where Ammeralds is next year yet or no?

SPEAKER_08

Good question. I'm sure we do. Let me see if I can Google very quickly. Alabama. Alabama, huh? Madison County Alabama from July 19th to 24th. So any thoughts of running it back? Well, I mean, vaguely, yes. Like I've got the thoughts of it, but uh a lot's gonna yeah, a lot's gonna depend on you know what time I can get off from work and and that sort of thing. You know, it's a lot easier when my you know housing costs are effectively taken care of by staying with family friends. So yeah, you know, a week of hotels, a week of eating out and and all that, that's a pretty significant financial uh extra that I didn't have to deal with so much uh this time.

SPEAKER_06

But not for nothing, it's Alabama, it's it's like a buck fifty a night.

SPEAKER_08

Also fair. The other thing was uh because it's a major and I beat you know 160 some people, I'd got 2,500 points just for that single event. Um so if I wanted to play next year, that's pretty well taken care of.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I feel like Alabama in August. It's gonna be pretty rough.

SPEAKER_06

It's like Africa hot.

SPEAKER_02

That dew point that yeah, that dew point's gonna be like in the 70s. It's gonna be bad.

SPEAKER_07

When I went, it was Orlando in August, and it was brutal. Yikes.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. Well, I've got a lot of time to make that decision, luckily enough. The weather is certainly uh a big wrench in the works as well. I enjoyed the event. If you told me it was at a completely neutral site, I feel like I would do it again. But yeah, for Alabama, it might be uh might be a little bit extra extra work to make me want to do it. All right.

SPEAKER_02

That's bring it back to Ethan, but I just did the math just to understand how much money he's leaving on the table. Did you guys do this math yet?

SPEAKER_08

No.

SPEAKER_02

So if he had just accepted cash so far this year, he's looking at like 1300 bucks.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, that math I did do because Corey had asked about it. Okay. Okay, I wasn't sure if he had done that. What I had caught up come up with was like close to 2,000 or something like that.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, that was a real number? I thought you were just busting my chops.

SPEAKER_06

No, when I actually went back, I think I forget what your your qualifiers were. It was for like the last year or something like that. I actually went back and I looked. Now, mind you, I also went one lower.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I did. Yeah, just to be safe and one spot down. Yep, yeah. So it's 1300 just for 2026. You know, that's a lot of money for a 16-year-old.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I'd take that as a 35-year-old.

Am Worlds Draft Picks Results

SPEAKER_06

We should probably take a look at the draft. We did a 2026 PDJ amateur disc golf world championships draft. Ryan, have you set this up? It's HVDGPics.com.

SPEAKER_02

No, I can do that now though.

SPEAKER_06

Just create a profile real quick. It doesn't send you spam or anything like that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Yeah. Until Tim gets a sponsor. But Tim has created this site that we can do our picks. Apparently, I forgot that I get a mixed in here.

SPEAKER_02

What's the uh the URL again? Hvdgpicks.com.com. Ooh, fancy.

SPEAKER_06

And we'll be using this for like New York team challenge picks and and anything that we do in the future. We got to figure out how to get people to vote. But I will say that Jamin's team, Team Darkhorse got seven votes. B Klein, Evan, Greg Lai, Jamin, myself, Randy, and Tim voted for Jamin. A little frog voted for Alex.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, Jamin told us we had to vote for him because he had Ethan on his team.

SPEAKER_06

That's true.

SPEAKER_05

And I wasn't gonna go against that.

SPEAKER_08

Pat voted for Pat. Looking at the desktop version of this, I was on mobile and I was like, why are you guys so confused? Like clearly, this is a turtle and a frog. But on the desktop version, they're so much smaller. So it's it's much more understandable that you guys were uh uh confused by that one. So let's take a look at our picks.

SPEAKER_06

I guess we'll just go in order. In I'm gonna say seventh place because my my placing doesn't mean anything because it's all done after the fact.

SPEAKER_10

Doesn't matter what number you give it, you can give it something more accurate.

SPEAKER_06

Well, okay, DFL. All right, uh UC for me, Corey Guns, you had Noah Fell, who came in fifth place in MA1, Braden Yoder, who came in ninth place in MA1, Ari Tim in FA1 came in ninth, and Sean Ryan, who came in just outside the cut line, yeah. He was also your dark horse, 191st place. So you ended up with what what do these numbers mean here? Total stroke score is our main determiner. You ended up with 1256 points in sixth place with 1258 points, beat you by two points.

SPEAKER_10

You want to look at the uh the parentheses number. I also was confused at first. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_05

That's got the dark horse points included.

SPEAKER_08

We should uh Tim, if you're listening, that that might be a thing to uh to do. Put like a box around and make the number.

SPEAKER_07

That never should be bigger.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, make the biggest number the final number.

SPEAKER_06

We could also tell JVD that because I'm always looking. I I look for the bold. I don't look for the he puts his off to the side and one's highlighted, one's not. Yeah, so you see for me, Corey Gunn's got twelve hundred and seventy-seven points. You want lower numbers. So with twelve hundred and seventy-one points in sixth place, the HVDGP booty shakers, Randy Bobandi. He had Robin Eng, who came in third in FA1, Keegan Mancabelli, who came in 37th in MA1, Leighton Brinster, his dark horse, came in 93rd place in MA1, and Roger Boone Jr., who came in ninth place in MA1. Now, Tim had said if they didn't make the cut, he gave them the equivalent to whoever the worst score, right? In the final round.

SPEAKER_05

Something like that. I think it had plus one. Oh, he did do plus one? I think that was carried over from something prior, but I could be wrong.

SPEAKER_06

Uh it's either worse score or worse score plus one. How'd you feel, Randy?

SPEAKER_07

Honestly, it felt pretty good. The the scores were tight for us, you know, in the in the bottom half of this. I think the the dark horse is it was mostly what did some damage.

SPEAKER_06

You beat Corey by six points, and fifth place beat you by three points with 1268. Joe C. He had Sam Gooch Gooch who uh finished twelfth in MA1, Ellen Dixon, who finished second in FA1, Bobby Hallam as dark horse, finished uh 128th in MA1, and Thomas Lavergny, or Laverne, who finished 21st in MA1. Fourth place with 1,256 points, head Lemon Evan P had Austin Yoder, who finished third in MA1, Hunter Bowman, finished in eighth place in MA1. He went out and hunted for you. Uh Winter Thorne Connellis, who just barely missed the cut and finished in 83rd place. And who's your dark uh it's not showing your dark horse? I think it was Winter.

SPEAKER_05

So it did go in as Winter. My intention was Hunter, but I didn't take advantage of the offer to switch it. I said, no, whatever. It is what it is. So I should have taken that because Hunter did beat his average by 27 points. So that would have changed my score, but it's all good.

SPEAKER_06

I got you. And Virginia Conover, who finished 13th in FA1. Who knows? But it feels like there's not as much lag. So if if that issue is resolved, we won't have the Dark Horse issue again in the future. So that's something.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, I listened back and I think Randy nailed it with the uh when he asked me if I clicked it a bunch of times in a row, uh guilty. I did that.

SPEAKER_07

So I mean it didn't work for me, and I clicked it once, I waited, and then I hit submit.

SPEAKER_05

So I don't know. I think he figured out an issue that was causing that, and I think next time he said it should be better.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, he had the whole website refreshing too often, right?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Like everything in the website, like all the previous drafts, like everything. Everything.

SPEAKER_05

But and we were being generous, like, oh, there's so many names in this tournament, it's probably just the PvGA.

SPEAKER_06

So he's doing the whole site and then throwing that we've got like 500 names to deal with because between MA1 and FA1. You know, I I I understand, it makes total sense. Third place with 1242 points. We got Sussie, the real Pat. Unfortunately, he's not here, so he can't toot his own horn. But he had Bradley Baumgartner, who finished fourth in MA1, Alan Vasquez, who finished 11th in MA1, Alex Potts has his dark horse, who finished 117th not far off the cut in uh MA1, and Rebecca Minnick, who finished 27th in FA1. Corey, was that a strategy to plant her name earlier in the round and have somebody pick her?

SPEAKER_10

If it was, I didn't play my cards right because I still got my ass kicked. So I'm gonna say no.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. But Alex, you didn't do too too shabby. You got him 29 bonus points, it looks like.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. Obviously, you know, shooting 30 points over my rating. Can't be upset with that.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, it wasn't enough to get your vote for his team. He only had himself voting for him, but you know.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Uh second place, we got Turtle Frog, who had Benson Graber, who finished sixth place in MA1. Brianna Vandergrint finished 16th in FA1. Jeremy Kasprick is dark horse finished 83rd in MA1, and Broden Barlow, 21st place in MA1. Pretty good. I mean, Jeremy almost made the cut.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, it was real close. And uh I officially tied with Pat, but I got the tiebreaker with uh finishing position.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, you both finished with 1242, your total finishing position was 126, his was 159. Probably that Alex Potts slash Jeremy Cashbrick was the difference.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, pretty much.

SPEAKER_06

Although you got him more dark horse points than Jeremy got you, so there's that too. Goes both ways. But your winner or week in Maine was the prize for the Hudson Valley picks. Jamin, Dark Horse. Uh he had Ethan Hatters with a flame next to his name, which means largest positive rating difference plus 36. He came in first place in MA1, he had Gavin Bednar, who finished second in MA1, Kayla Hess, who finished third in FA1, and Tyler the Canon Ganon as his dark horse, who finished 147th in MA1, but also got him nine points to finish with 1208, which was like 30 something points better than second place. So all our votes were worth it. He also set it up to where I get a team, whoever's left who wasn't picked. I don't get a dark horse though, so I don't get any bonus points, but he gave me uh Gianna Losito, who won FA1. Nobody picked the FA1 winner, Addison Sells, who came in seventh in MA1, Holt Witted, who finished 12th in MA1, and Keenan Druding, who finished 12th in MA1, which would have been enough to win with 1,198 points, with a total finish place of 32 points. The next best was of actually picking would have been Alex with 126. He was the best of people who actually picked. Good job, took the scraps. Woo-hoo! I win! Yay! No, but um, but no, Jamin. That's all that's awesome. Is that more than one that he's won now? Of these? Maybe.

SPEAKER_08

I think I won one of them. Well, we've done three.

SPEAKER_06

The jammer.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, it looks like uh Jamin won the jammer. Or not the jammer, the mind kill one.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, Jamin won, yep, he won the uh the mind kill. Yep. And you won the jammer? And I got the jammer, yep. Alright, so that's two wins for Jamin, one win for Alex. What are the rest of you fools doing?

SPEAKER_05

Trying to click the dark horse button.

SPEAKER_06

That's fair.

Last Week in Disc Golf Fri, Sat, Sun

SPEAKER_06

Let's pause a minute and take a look at some of the results from the last week in disc golf. TGI FDR dubs had a tie for third place. Patrick Rowan and Cody Flynn shot minus 11. So did MV or Michael, not Mike, and Joe Franco. Ben Vondrak and Nick B came in second at minus 13. Liam Gislayson and Ryan Curtis are your winners, they shot minus 15. Skylands Friday handicap league, Mike Baglioni came in third, Scott Spellman in second, and Richard Tilkington as your winner shot minus five to his handicap. SPW Dubs League week 21. How'd that go?

SPEAKER_07

That was an interesting night. We had the kids with us, and Ben Ayers and Meg Jame showed up after the round had started, so they joined our card. So we had a six em with the children. It went great though. We we started on hole one, which was convenient. By the time we got to hole seven, the sky had opened up. We made a joke like, Oh, do you think it's a headwind? Because you could just see like a wall of dark clouds like rapidly coming toward us. And in the time it took to tee off on seven, it went from just a little windy to like an uncomfortable hard rain. Like it was pelting you. My kids were, you know, soaked to the bone instantly. I couldn't even try to wrangle them up. Me and my partner, Jordan Castlin. We we just held on and didn't really bogey during the it was like a four hole stretch of just horrible rain. And then it basically stopped. So yeah, just not bogeying during that bad stretch and keeping it together. Um, we were able to win by a lot. I think it was like four strokes at the end of that. And I that basically I think comes down to to playing the rain holes pretty well.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it looks like you birdied six and seven and then had four pars in a row and then birdied the next four. Uh, but it was actually five strokes. You guys shot minus nine. Wow. Dan Perry, David Chaiken, Kenji Klein, and Jay Gorsage, those two teams shot minus four, tie for second place.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, Jordan was putting lights out that night. It was a good time.

SPEAKER_06

Uh nobody hit the birdie bank. Kevin Cronkey got a CTP on hole eight for 26 bucks, and no aces were hit. Kremmore Dubs League, Jace Carter and Joseph Pulsoni came in third place, shot a minus four. Hans Huntsberger came in second, shot a minus five, and Eric Cannine and Tyler Cole took it down at minus nine. I played Angry Friday dubs at Riverside, Port Jervis. We were talking about Ivan Yvonne, whatever British name he came up with for the Renaissance Man 2. I think he's playing a tournament in Pennsylvania somewhere because his name for dubs and for this tournament, his partner was Albert Catlow, and his name is Hershey Sheets. They shot a minus 10. So I guess they're playing somewhere near Hershey, Pennsylvania. I played with Shayna, we shot minus 11. Mike Ortez and Dylan Cowart shot minus 12. And there was a threesome. Stacey Blasdell, George Henry told his captain, and Augie shot minus 16 to win it. On Saturday, Wedge held its August monthly. They had 13 players on a beautiful non-humid Saturday. The layout was yellow plus the ace place. C pool, Victor Marty took that down, shot a plus six. In the B pool, Mark Affect came in third, shot a minus three. Steve Magnuson in second at minus five, and your winner, Ishmael Valencia, shot a minus nine. The A pool, Michael Smith came in third, shooting a minus fourteen. Eric Bowers in second at fifteen under. And your winner, John JP Hafner, shot a minus seventeen. Skylands also had their monthly for August. Looks like Joe Balastreri took the C pool with a plus four. Jeff Levin33 came in second and B pool with an even par and T-Bore as your winner, he shot minus one. In the A pool, Arson came in third, shot a minus two. Jacob Driscoll in second at minus three. And Danny McCormick, your winner, shot minus seven. Thatcher Saturday dubs, week nine. Patrick Jeffries and Isaiah Mercer came in third place, shot a minus seven. Danny Delhi and Dan P came in second at minus eleven. And Colm Grant and Jason Malloy are your winners. They shot minus 13. They also hit the birdie bank for 66 bucks. Mark Striker got the CTP on hole three, and there were no aces. Sassafras Sunday solo at Dove Handicap League. Randy, you played there, you said, right?

SPEAKER_07

I did go to Dove Creek.

SPEAKER_06

Not too much to talk about, but Oh, so you were just setting up your handicap.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I don't know how often I'm gonna go. Adam just invited me to go and I went. So I don't know. Had you played there before? No, I'd never been there before. It was a really cool course. It's it's pretty different. You know, they carved this course into some trying to describe the woods. There's really good terrain. There's lots of hills and there's like rivers carving it up. So lots of natural OB. It is staked, but you know, it's it's things you shouldn't land in. And yeah, I had a good time. I shot, I think three down, which was the second best raw score. Sean Collins aced, I would think the hardest ace on the course, besides the part fours. He aced a hole that is downhill, turning right, can't even see it, and there's an Obi River halfway there. So like I bogeied that hole with like an okay shot. Yeah. Hole 15. Hole 15.

SPEAKER_05

I heard it was a hex.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

That's crazy.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, he just threw a pure slight turn backhand and it just went all the way there, which is insane. Like that is a hole I would not expect to ace ever. Birding it would be great. So yeah, he crushed it.

SPEAKER_06

Nice.

SPEAKER_03

Well, let's hear what Robo Terry Hudson has to say about it. Ace alert. Sean Collins took down the first ace of the inaugural Sassafras Solos League, a dream ace on 15, a 350 feet downhill dog leg blind shot. Not only did he ace and take $248 of $298 ace pot, he took first in our largest win of the year. He also donated $50 to the ace pot to keep other players wanting to come. Second place today was Mill Smith, who had a great round, and JQ took third. We had five people get their handicapped today and look forward to some of them taking our money with a handicap round coming for them next. It was a gorgeous day today, and every week inches closer to the Montgomery County Championship, so we did some work after and essentially finished Hole 4's new basket, giving the front nine its first par four. Lastly, and I didn't get a picture, but the Boy Scouts were back working on the bridge, fixing the erosion bags that helped save the creek from that huge deluge we got, and fixing up the older part of the bridge. Soon that bridge will have a turf-like top that will tie it into the course. Thank you, Troop 48, for this.

SPEAKER_06

Long Island Sunday doubles. Matthew and Jonathan Barnes came in third place. They shot a minus 12. There was a tie for first at minus 14. Dylan Schmolfis and Chris tied with Adrian Hurtado and Josh Winkler at minus 14. Evan, you played Prospect Park Dubs tonight. How'd that go?

SPEAKER_05

It went well. I was uh on the fence early in the day. It looked like it might be some rain, but as I kept watching, that was not going to be an issue. Got paired up with Adam Nelson tonight, which was a lot of fun on a card with Earl Steinberg and Pete Cornish. We also had Dennis and Kenji. So we had a six em.

SPEAKER_06

Ooh, we were talking about this earlier. Kenji's actually like legit playing now.

SPEAKER_05

Yep, Kenji, Kenji and Dennis, dubs partners. And which is interesting because they were Lemonhead's dubs partners more than a couple in the season, as I recall. Yeah, Kenji's, you know, throwing backhands, throwing rollers. He's out there for sure. Good to see him back. We started on hole 18, even though there were six, we we had a good pace going. Adam was playing well. I was playing pretty well, actually. Feeling pretty good, helping to contribute. I got the solo birdie on eight. We got the eagle on 16.

SPEAKER_06

Looks like no aces, but one eagle.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that was coming down the stretch for us. And Dennis wanted to bet Adam a dollar CTP on hole 16. And Adam threw before Dennis, and after he threw, Dennis just gave him the dollar.

SPEAKER_06

A 384 par four.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and it's slightly uphill the whole way. It's got a slightly low ceiling to deal with issues with the trees and the branches. And yeah, Adam threw one up there, and he made the putt, actually. So solo Birdie, that was pretty cool. So we came in at 14 under. That was two strokes ahead of looks like two teams tied. Dave Marshlock and Tyler Gannon, and then Earl and Pete, who were on our card, they also were 12 down. Adam and I missed Birdie Bank by one hole, hole 12. What did they say it was earlier? The the most wonkiest. I forget what the word was. So we didn't get that one. And actually Leighton and Kat Chacha got the Birdie Bank. They got all five holes. Yeah, it was good. We heard a little thunder in the distance, but it never actually affected us at all. It was a nice night and a good time.

SPEAKER_06

Looks like Isaiah Mercer got the cash CTP on hole 18, 22 bucks. No aces, as I mentioned before.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and I think Jay said this one might be the last week of 5 30. We might start moving it back a little.

SPEAKER_06

Nice, and then

Disc or No Disc

SPEAKER_06

smart. Anybody got time for a quiz? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I'm good. All right. Yeah. Let me grab a beer while you set up teams, I suppose. Well unless unless No, grab your beer. Grab your beer.

SPEAKER_06

Do we have an idea for Teams?

SPEAKER_10

I want to play with Ryan.

SPEAKER_06

You want to play with Ryan?

SPEAKER_10

Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Alright, that means you're going second though.

SPEAKER_10

Fine with it.

SPEAKER_06

You get one thing your way. You can't get two. That's that's you know.

SPEAKER_10

You can't have your ice cream cake and eat it too, although I think I might go grab a slice.

SPEAKER_06

All right. Well, it'll take me a minute to write this.

SPEAKER_10

The Bluetooth headphones are working.

SPEAKER_06

I meant to ask you about that, Corey. So Bluetooth headphones now work with with Zencasher?

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I mean, it's just it's just the audio input into my computer, but yeah, I haven't had any problems. I don't think at least.

SPEAKER_06

Well, it's just one of those things when I first started doing this, it it wouldn't allow you. Like that was they actually said, like, don't use Bluetooth. I think we mentioned that before.

SPEAKER_10

I do notice this headset is pretty sensitive as far as how far away the the boom of the mic is from my mouth. But other than that, no, it works fine.

SPEAKER_06

It's something I used to point out, and then I remember I thought I remember you saying that you used one, so I stopped pointing it out.

SPEAKER_04

Shop the games in the question round and round till you land it or hit the ground.

SPEAKER_06

Alex and Evan, I got three categories of disc or no disc. Would you like category one, category two, or category three? You got a preference? Number one. Sounds good to me. All right, question one, category one. What word can mean an act of traveling across water, a piece of canvas, or a homophone for a retail clearance event? What word can mean an act of traveling across water, a piece of canvas or a homophone for a retail clearance event? Sale.

SPEAKER_05

Agreed. Good, good. That was good.

SPEAKER_06

You guys agree? Yeah. Is the sale a disc? I'm pretty sure it is. Alex did a bit.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, if I remember correctly.

SPEAKER_06

You guys agree?

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Disc golf association. I don't know this DGA you refer to. February 25th, 2016. No pressure, Corey and Ryan. You're already down two points. You haven't even done anything. Category one, category two, or category three.

SPEAKER_10

Are you back, Ryan? Is this dude brewing it himself? I have to wait for my partner.

SPEAKER_06

That's fair. What are your initial thoughts as far as category selection?

SPEAKER_10

I was thinking two. I don't know why, but.

SPEAKER_06

No, that's fair. Ryan?

SPEAKER_10

She's a good one.

SPEAKER_06

It's weird because there's no noise, so I don't know.

SPEAKER_05

It's like a seance. Is Ryan in the room with us?

SPEAKER_02

I'm back. Oh, sorry. He did say something. What did I do? Nothing. Uh I know. I just got I literally just uh put my thing back on. Sorry.

SPEAKER_10

Well you lost Rock Paper Scissors and you're stuck with me.

SPEAKER_06

Oh boy. Do you guys want category one, category two, or category three? You're already down two points. Alex and Evan took category one, got it right, and knew whether it was a disc or not.

SPEAKER_02

Wow. Did we get any of my bonus points for uh getting uh the disc? Oh I forgot about this.

SPEAKER_06

Oh but yes, we're gonna combine them. We got one bonus point. So you you guys are down one point. Would you like category one, two, or three? Corey and Ryan.

SPEAKER_10

They picked one before Ryan, so you pick. See if you can knock the rust off. It's been a while. Yeah, it's been a while. Uh let's check the other category. Okay, well, it's two or three.

SPEAKER_06

Two or three.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, oh, dude. You really knock the rust off. Holy shit. Really? Well, I suppose we'll go three. Sure. Yeah, like that.

SPEAKER_06

All right. You okay with that, Corey?

SPEAKER_09

Yep.

SPEAKER_06

All right. Category three in Microsoft Windows. Which function key is famously combined with the alt key to instantly close the active program or open window? In Microsoft Windows, what function key is famously combined with the alt key to instantly close the active program or open window?

SPEAKER_10

F4. Alt F4, bitch. Oh Dan, did you actually close your thing out? Nerd.

SPEAKER_06

I didn't hear you guys went right over each other. What what are we going with?

SPEAKER_10

F four. F4.

SPEAKER_09

F4. You guys agree? F four. Yeah. Is the F4 a disc? Gotta be. Prodigy.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_09

It's gotta be a prodigy, right? Yep.

SPEAKER_06

You guys agree?

SPEAKER_09

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_06

Yep. Prodigy discs, August 10th, 2026.

SPEAKER_09

Oh wow. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

It just became a disc. All right. So you guys are up three to two. Alex and Evan. Category one or category three? Category two will be saved for a later date.

SPEAKER_05

I'm happy to stay in one unless you want to do the earliest zig ever.

SPEAKER_06

Uh let's stick with one. Seems good to me. Alright, question two, category one. What term can be used to describe someone moving forward in or on a vehicle without using the engine? Usually down a hill. What term can be used to describe someone moving forward in or on a vehicle without using the engine? Usually down a hill.

SPEAKER_08

Sounds like a coasting. They're coasting.

SPEAKER_05

I was going to say, if it's someone, is it a coaster?

SPEAKER_08

I don't know what the question was now.

SPEAKER_05

I think he said someone in or on a vehicle. I think it's uh let's hear it, but I think it's coaster.

SPEAKER_06

What term can be used to describe someone moving forward in or on a vehicle without using the engine, usually down a hill?

SPEAKER_08

I don't want to underthink it, but no, I mean, yeah, we are describing someone. So yeah, I mean the other thought would be like rider or passenger or something like that, but I think coaster sounds better.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's who's a both of our instincts, so let's go with it. Do you guys agree?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah. We're looking for coast, and you're it's question two, so I'm not busting you for the ER. Is the coast a disc? Or coaster if the coaster is a disc.

SPEAKER_08

I like coast as a potential DGI disc, but I I am not aware of one.

SPEAKER_05

Uh exact same feeling. I but it's it makes sense to me, and I would not feel bad saying yes.

SPEAKER_06

Let's do it. Okay. You guys agree? Yep. Yeah. Climo disc golf, March 16th, 2026. I don't think I knew about that one. Corey and Ryan, question three and one or two and three.

SPEAKER_02

First question. What was the answer to category one question one? Sale. I missed it. Sale? It was a DGA disc. Got it. Okay.

SPEAKER_10

So far, uh category one has seemed kind of soft. It does. But F4 was really soft. So category three might be um curated. It could be. Potentially. I think they're all curated. I I think curated is probably the wrong term, but yeah, because that's kind of my job.

SPEAKER_06

Curate questions. Okay. Do you want question three in soft round one or question two in soft round three? That's the question.

SPEAKER_10

I think we take three again. Okay. I'm gonna do what it is.

SPEAKER_06

All right. Question two, category three serving as a direct feeder championship and final stepping stone before Formula One. What single seater racing category is sanctioned by FIA and shares the F1 Grand Prix race weekend schedule? Serving as the direct feeder championship and final stepping stone before Formula One? What single seater racing category is sanctioned by the FIA and shares the F1 Grand Prix race weekend schedule?

SPEAKER_02

Corey, can I guess before you get it right? I'm I don't know this one. Oh, you don't? Oh, I'm just I was wondering, is it just F2?

SPEAKER_10

I mean, I thought the answer was F1 until you said F1 in the question, but I I'm definitely not like a Formula One guy. But F2 would be a It's also disk.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Or could it be well, yeah, because formula. I mean, I don't I don't know. That's my guess. I have no idea.

SPEAKER_10

There's no like H1 or A1 or But the it stands for formula.

SPEAKER_09

What would H stand for? Well, it's a feeder into Formula One.

SPEAKER_10

Have you heard of Formula Two before?

SPEAKER_09

I no, I just know it's disk.

SPEAKER_10

I really have no uh rebuttal, so uh sure. F2.

SPEAKER_09

Sounds good.

SPEAKER_06

You guys agree?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, sure.

SPEAKER_06

Is the F2 a disc?

SPEAKER_10

All right.

SPEAKER_02

Pull that out of my ass.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I mean they use the they use they use a metric system out there. What other what other number could it be? 11 18th?

SPEAKER_02

I feel like I might have heard it somewhere. F pi?

SPEAKER_10

F pi, yeah. Uh so yes it's a disc. You said yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's also I think it's actually disc mania, though. Oh, so what so that's that's a flippy one then? Maybe not. Yeah, I think I think so.

SPEAKER_10

Um yes, it's a disc, Pat.

SPEAKER_06

Are you willing to wager the point that it's a disc manion?

SPEAKER_09

Double or nothing? I would, Corey. I would. Okay. I mean, you're the gambler. Yeah, let's do it.

SPEAKER_06

You there's no game. I I just wanted to see if you were willing to. Uh Project D Discs July 6th, 2013. Or I don't know if it would have counted, but factory second? I don't know. Um says a big F2 on our disc, but well, I mean I'm thinking of F D2.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I was thinking of. That makes sense.

SPEAKER_06

Likely story. Alex and Evan, you're down one point. Question three in one or three in three.

SPEAKER_05

So are they all just gonna be F number and sorry, this is to Alex. This is to Alex specifically. And did we have this before? Am I just having a deja vu?

SPEAKER_08

Recently we had a bunch of like letter plus number, and that was like Corey's car category. Ages ago, there was one that was just like letter plus number. Um we're talking at least a year ago, probably two years ago.

SPEAKER_05

So before the refr the reset.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, but I would not use any of those. I really only want to do the the letter number stuff once.

SPEAKER_05

Fair. I'm fine to stay with one after all that.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, my my instinct is stay with one just because like I just don't know any of the other numbers that would go along with it.

SPEAKER_06

That little chihuahua is going crazy tonight. All right, question three, category one, originating on the winding mountain roads of Japan in the 1970s and popularized globally by the Fast and Furious franchise. What term describes a driving technique where a driver intentionally oversteers to slide through a corner at high speed? Originating on the winding mountain roads of Japan in the 1970s and popularized globally by the Fast and Furious franchise? What term describes the driving technique where a driver intentionally oversteers to slide through a corner at high speeds?

SPEAKER_08

That sounds like a drift to me.

SPEAKER_06

I agree with drift. You guys agree?

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Sorry, guys, it's actually Tokyo Drift.

SPEAKER_08

Can you be more specific now?

SPEAKER_05

Trademark. Is the drift a disc? Sure is. Yes, streamline, right?

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, streamline. What year? Oh 2019 or 18? I was gonna say 2020. I could it could have been later.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, Evan, you're going with 22. Alex, you're you're sticking with 19?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Streamline discs, May 9th, 2018. Oh all right. You get back up in the lead, six to five. Corey and Ryan, four and one or three and three.

SPEAKER_09

I mean category one's pretty soft.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but yeah. Like, do we want to go cat one just to like get it?

SPEAKER_10

And then problem is we're on the other end of it right now. Like, we'd be giving up a three to take a four, just to take a four.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah, maybe we can stay on three. I mean, it's it's working.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, let's take more. We're getting them. I mean, we might potentially already know half of the answer.

SPEAKER_06

It's true.

SPEAKER_10

Let's go with three.

SPEAKER_06

Going with three?

SPEAKER_10

Yep.

SPEAKER_06

All right. Question three category three. Although theoretically designated by Ted Fujita for winds exceeding 318 miles an hour, what hypothetical rating on the original Fujita scale has never officially been assigned to any recorded tornado? Although theoretically designated by Ted Fujita for winds exceeding 318 miles per hour, what hypothetical rating on the original Fujita scale has never officially been assigned to any recorded tornado?

SPEAKER_10

So it's gotta be like a seven or an eight, right?

SPEAKER_02

Honestly, it was in the last, it was in like the Twister movie, the one they just did, the reboot. I didn't see it. Oh, you didn't see it? I feel like it was F5. Really? That that's only that long? Yeah, I'm pretty certain. Maybe uh I'm just trying to think back to it. Glenn Powell, who else is in that movie?

SPEAKER_06

Probably the chick from Euphoria, because they're in everything together.

SPEAKER_02

Zendaya or Sidney Sweeney?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, Sydney. Zendaya's in everything. Sydney Sweeney's in everything with Glenn Powell.

SPEAKER_02

That's true. Yes, that's true. Man, trying to think, just trying to like rack my brain. Think of any of the dialogue.

SPEAKER_10

I was trying to think of what other F numbered discs we've done, questions we've done. Like we've had to have done F7 because I feel like I made some comment about an F7 and possibly giving one back to Kevin Round. We know it's not an F4 because we just had that question. So I guess we're at five and six. Five and six, right. And I don't know anything about the other F numbers and what their speeds are. Like that, what is even an F1? Is that like 80, or can tornadoes not even be that slow?

SPEAKER_02

I cannot tell you.

SPEAKER_10

You said F5 to begin with, so let's just, you know.

SPEAKER_02

I'm pretty sure I uh that's that's what's resonating with me. But now I'm thinking six.

SPEAKER_09

Let's go F six. All right, let's do six. Let's do six. F six, Pat.

SPEAKER_06

You guys agree?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Yes.

SPEAKER_06

Is the F six?

SPEAKER_02

Great late frickin' late late zag. The F6?

SPEAKER_10

Like I said, I'm pretty sure project goes all the way up to seven, so it'd be kind of weird if they skipped six, right?

SPEAKER_06

I will say for whatever you guys think, we've done F1, obviously, because of racing. We've only done one other F number based on my research.

SPEAKER_10

So interesting. I guess I'm leaning yes still. Although F6, maybe maybe they skip six, went five to seven.

SPEAKER_02

Well, wasn't F4? No, because F four was just approved.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, but they've done, I know they have an F7. It's flippy as hell.

SPEAKER_02

I know they have an F7. I don't think that I don't think they don't have more than F6.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. They skipped uh five and six, I think. Let's say no. I'm cool with that. Let's go no. No.

SPEAKER_06

Do you guys agree?

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Prodigy discs. August 10th, 2026. Along with the F4. It just came out.

SPEAKER_02

Wow.

SPEAKER_06

Wow. Unreal. All right. Now we're tied. Alex and Evan, would you like four and one or four and three? I'm still happy to stay in one. Same, same. All right. Question four category one. What two-word phrase originally referring to theater actors frantically memorizing lines from the sides of the stage means to improvise or do something without preparation? What two-word phrase originally referring to theater actors frantically memorizing lines from the sides of the stage means to improvise or do something without preparation?

SPEAKER_08

I legitimately learned this earlier today. Go on. It's winging it. To wing it. Yeah. Because you're in the you're in the wings of the uh love it. Yeah. So wing it is the answer we're looking for.

SPEAKER_06

You guys agree? Yep. Before I ask you whether or not it's a disc, how did you learn about it earlier today?

SPEAKER_08

It was on a podcast that I listened to that does lateral thinking questions. And it it was a very similar sort of setup for the question.

SPEAKER_02

Wow. Are you trying? Training for trivia, Alex. Always. Nonstop.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, pretty much. I would argue it will be on a podcast coming up.

SPEAKER_05

Is the Wing It a disc? In a silly way, it feels like it. I I could see it being like a WAMO disc or something like that. Maybe it's too weird, but I I kind of like it.

SPEAKER_08

I I I like it enough to go with the S. Okay, good.

SPEAKER_06

Do you guys agree?

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I'm sorry. No. Come on. It is, however, a disc golf company, Wing It Disc golf.

SPEAKER_05

So, alright. I don't feel too bad. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Alright. So you guys are still up one point. Corey and Ryan, five and one or four and three?

SPEAKER_09

I I just keep low on numbers, right? Keep going with three. I guess keep going.

SPEAKER_06

Sticking with it?

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. The other category got a little tougher.

SPEAKER_06

All right. Question four, category three. In Microsoft office programs like Word and Outlook. Which top row function key is the dedicated keyboard shortcut to instantly run a spelling and grammar check? In Microsoft Office programs like Word and Outlook. Which top row function key is the dedicated keyboard shortcut to instantly run a spelling and grammar check?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know this one. I know like control or control K is checks like address book lookups and stuff. I mean, I guess it's probably F F7. F five is refresh. No hitting the buttons while I'm just looking at my keyboard. Man, that's uh that's one I don't know.

SPEAKER_10

F five is usually like a run button and other yeah, I think it would definitely be it would be between five and eight. What number did you say originally? Seven?

SPEAKER_02

I was thinking F7.

SPEAKER_10

I don't think it's five. It can't be six, seven or eight.

SPEAKER_02

Could it be F3? Oh, um because like F1 is like save, F2 is I I don't think it's F7.

SPEAKER_09

I feel like we've had that before.

SPEAKER_06

So maybe we would just say F3.

SPEAKER_09

I'm okay with that. Yeah, let's go F3.

SPEAKER_06

Going F3?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Alex and Evan in Microsoft Office programs like Word and Outlook. Which top row function key is is the dedicated keyboard shortcut to instantly run a spelling and grammar check?

SPEAKER_05

I want to say F7 just because it was their other guess. Don't you dare lock it in.

SPEAKER_08

It's the only other one that I am pretty confident is a disc, so I'm I'm happy with that. I certainly don't know the actual answer.

SPEAKER_05

F7 pet. You guys agree? Yep. Yep. Is the F7. Fuck me.

SPEAKER_06

Alex, take it away. I'm pretty confident it is a disc. You guys agree? Sure.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Prodigy Discs, July 6th, 2013. Ouch. I'm not saying I've never done F7 before. I just don't recall, to be honest.

SPEAKER_10

I'm probably making that up.

SPEAKER_06

I got nine to six. Does that sound right, Alex?

SPEAKER_10

Yes.

SPEAKER_06

I was freaking out last week. So many people were responding, but none of them were Alex when I was asking about the scores.

SPEAKER_08

I mean, I was responding to lots of things, apparently.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I really felt like you were there. Oh, you were there, yeah. That's true.

SPEAKER_10

That shit was so funny.

SPEAKER_05

It was so good.

SPEAKER_10

The fact that you like plugged it in like almost the entire like the entire time.

SPEAKER_05

The part where you were like, oh yeah, he he beat me at like such and such tournament or something like that. Jeremy Catherine one.

SPEAKER_06

The Jeremy Catherine one. Yeah. I just did a a search through the podcast episodes for draft, and I just would pull like three or four. But then I remembered somebody picked Jeremy, so I was like, Oh, I gotta pull that.

SPEAKER_02

How do you go back? Do they transcribe them for you? Does uh Zencaster do that now?

SPEAKER_06

They do it now, but they don't do it for old episodes.

SPEAKER_02

For old stuff, right.

SPEAKER_06

Zencaster doesn't do it, it's through Buzz Sprout.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_06

A few years back I added transcripts, but then I realized they're just a pain in the ass. But now it it's included with my plan or whatever. Early episodes, I didn't even do chapters. I just looked for draft in the title.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_06

Unfortunately, Alex has been on since mostly for chapters. So I was able to see, like, oh, we did picks for this event. So uh nine to six, Alex and Evan, question five and one or question five and three? I'm happy to stick with a steal. Uh I'm happy sticking with one. All right. All right, question five, category one, played by actress uh Stephanie Courtney since 2008. What is the single name of the hyper enthusiastic apron-wearing fictional spokesperson for progressive insurance? Played by actress Stephanie Courtney since 2008. What is the single name of the hyper enthusiastic apron-wearing fictional spokesperson for progressive insurance?

SPEAKER_05

You know this one.

SPEAKER_08

I think it's flow.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Which is also a disc if I remember correctly.

SPEAKER_05

It also fits the whole vibe of this soft category.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, I like it.

SPEAKER_05

You guys agree?

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Is the flow a disc?

SPEAKER_08

I I would have been pretty confident disc golf association uh makes it.

SPEAKER_06

I like it. Alex, are you willing to bet your point that it's a DGA?

SPEAKER_08

Uh am I willing to bet the point? No, because I would be wrong in that case. But if I didn't bet the point, I'd probably be right. So um, we're gonna go with not betting the point.

SPEAKER_06

Latitude 64, October 27th, 2010. So does that make it 11 to 6? Looks like it. Okay, you get if you guys sweep out, you win. No pressure, Corium Ryan. Uh, you want five and three or six and one?

SPEAKER_10

Well, there's only 12 F keys, so we're really running out of options.

SPEAKER_09

This this category is so tough.

SPEAKER_02

Let's do it. Category three. Let's finish it out. We're we're on a roll. Yeah, not a good one, but we're pot committed.

SPEAKER_06

All right, question five, category three. What two-character abbreviation was widely used on promotional posters and marketing materials for the 2017 Blockbuster, the Fate of the Furious? What two-character abbreviation was widely used on promotional posters and marketing materials for the 2017 Blockbuster, The Fate of the Furious.

SPEAKER_10

2017.

SPEAKER_02

What the hell is yeah, talking nine years ago? Is it blockbuster? I've never heard of it in my entire life. What the hell's Fate of the Furious?

SPEAKER_09

Is it Fast and Furious? Oh like F it's gonna be F two, like F eight, Fate of the Furious. Oh, okay, okay.

SPEAKER_10

I don't know when they started using snap Fast or Furious or Well, the thing is, like I used to be in a Fast Furious, but once I think after like Tokyo Drift or or maybe the one after that, I That was three. Yeah, but so that's what I'm saying. Like, so when they started calling them like F numbers, did they start with four? They didn't call the first one F one, they didn't call the second one F2 or Tokyo Drift F three, right?

SPEAKER_09

So it gotta be four. Oh, we already guessed four. We'd be looking at like either five or eight, but twenty seventeen, so it's gotta be five.

SPEAKER_02

You think so? Is is there really that many passengers? No, yeah, there's been like three since then.

SPEAKER_06

Wasn't there a fast X at least? Good lord.

SPEAKER_02

So they're they're doing like more than one a year, really milking it.

SPEAKER_10

Uh F eight, I believe the answer is. F eight?

SPEAKER_06

You guys agree?

SPEAKER_10

Yep. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Is the F8 a disc?

SPEAKER_10

This one I want to say no to. Um if they came out with it, it was in the past.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, they came out with five and six or whatever the other one.

SPEAKER_10

But they might have just been to fill in the gaps, like just to get them up to the seven they already had. All right, I'm good with no. Let's go no.

SPEAKER_06

You guys agree?

SPEAKER_10

Yep.

SPEAKER_06

You are correct. Sweet. So final round, it's 11 to 8. Alex and Evan, if you get this right, you win. Question six and one or six and three. Stick with one.

SPEAKER_02

It's been good to us. Nah, you want three. You're out of numbers, you know?

SPEAKER_08

Process of elimination. You need us to get it wrong either way.

SPEAKER_02

So that's why I wanted you to take three.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I'm happy with one. All right. Question six category one. Didn't take it. In the 1980 classic comedy film Airplane, what is the occupation of the inflatable, smiling, and occasionally pipe smoking character? In the 1980 classic comedy film Airplane, what is the occupation of the inflatable, smiling, and occasionally pipe smoking character?

SPEAKER_08

Uh the only inflatable character I remember from Airplane is the autopilot, right?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, the pilot.

SPEAKER_08

Autopilot and pilot are both discs.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_08

I think we've done pilot before. I think you're right.

SPEAKER_05

I like autopilot specifically.

SPEAKER_08

It's it's a newer one.

SPEAKER_05

Yep.

SPEAKER_06

You guys agree?

SPEAKER_05

Yes.

SPEAKER_06

What was his name?

SPEAKER_05

Uh I don't recall. Good question.

SPEAKER_08

Uh auto?

SPEAKER_05

You are correct. Good guess. Is the autopilot a disc? Yes, it is.

SPEAKER_08

Yep. Who makes it fans who putter streamline?

SPEAKER_06

What year? 2026. Streamline discs, May 25th, 2026.

SPEAKER_05

I bought a couple of them to try.

SPEAKER_06

Me too. Corey and Ryan, final question. This is worth 10 points. What is the alphanumeric name of Brock Lesnar's signature finishing move in which he lifts his opponents onto his shoulders in a fireman's carry and spins them into a face buster? What is the alphanumeric name of Brock Lesnar's finishing move in which he lifts his opponents onto his shoulders in a fireman's carry and spins them into a face buster?

SPEAKER_02

Good lord. The only wrestling move I know is like, what was uh the DDT?

SPEAKER_10

The DDT one with the sweet chin music from from uh John Michaels. Stone Cold Stunner.

SPEAKER_06

Wasn't the DDT Jake the Snake Roberts?

SPEAKER_10

Oh, I was thinking um uh who's the black guy?

SPEAKER_06

Booker T Junkyard Dog?

SPEAKER_10

No, no, Booker T, yeah, yeah. T was not, yeah, yeah. Actually, my OG favorite guy was um who was the dude with Sako?

SPEAKER_06

McFoley Mankind.

SPEAKER_10

Mankind, McFoley. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_09

Hell in the Cell. Him that Undertaker fight? Yeah. I I kinda remember that one.

SPEAKER_06

Coco Beware was mine.

SPEAKER_10

Rey Mysterio, dude. Rey Mysterio versus Rikishi. Remember that dude? He would just shake his ass and then and then suffocate you with his butt cheeks.

SPEAKER_04

I do remember that.

SPEAKER_10

It's all coming back. Uh Brock Lesnar, though, I don't I have no idea what his moves were. Other than look ugly. Shit.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, when was Brock Lesnar? I mean, that was like the the only wrestling I watched was like when Nintendo 64, the uh WCW, like WWE or WWF WE video game. I remember that, but I think Brock Lesnar was after that. So I got no idea.

SPEAKER_10

F9, F10, F11, or F12.

SPEAKER_09

F3's still there.

SPEAKER_10

Oh no, F3, yeah. We guessed F3 and it was wrong. Yeah, so it could still be there, but like none of those sound like good rest finishings, though. Like F9, maybe? I don't know. I I feel like 10, 11, 12, that's that's too many. That's that's too many numbers.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, how many times? I mean, you're not gonna twirl somebody around nine times, you're gonna get dizzy.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, so maybe this is maybe three. Yeah, dude like that. The flip three, the froll three. Yeah, let's go F3. F three.

SPEAKER_06

You guys agree?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you didn't sound very confident there. You were disappointed. Alex and Evan.

SPEAKER_08

God damn it.

SPEAKER_05

Pretty sure it's F9.

SPEAKER_08

I uh would have been like 99% sure it was the F5.

SPEAKER_05

Oh.

SPEAKER_08

Um like to the point that I had typed it in already.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. Well, we're gonna go with Alex, F5. Do you guys agree? Yes. Is the F5?

SPEAKER_09

How did we skip over the five and looking right at it? The five. You got five, you got five fingers.

SPEAKER_05

Is it a disc? Probably. Uh six was a disc or wasn't a disc. Six was not was a disc, but they guessed wrong. Because it just came out. Yeah, bro.

SPEAKER_08

I'm happy saying yes. We don't need to stress too much. Okay, we'll say yes.

SPEAKER_06

Prodigy discs, November 1st, 2013. I kind of hinted at it earlier that we did F1 and we did F9 in the past. So since two F's came out, I thought, why not

Sweet Up Hudson Valley!

SPEAKER_06

F round? Alex, Stony Kill, how's that going?

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, Stony Kill Scramble. We do our custom bamboo minis with like your name and PDGA number engraved on them. If you want to have your name and number engraved on them, make sure you get registered by the 21st, which will be the day after this comes out. So make sure you're on that. Yeah, so Stony Kill Scramble registration is open for doubles and singles.

SPEAKER_06

Sign up for doubles just so Randy doesn't win.

SPEAKER_08

Right? Yeah, plenty of spots open, but if you want to get your thing, make sure you get in as soon as possible. Battengale is also open. That one's coming up soon.

SPEAKER_10

Sign up for it. I'm just I I'm not usually a big uh weather forecast uh out to 12 days, but I'm just saying the forecast as of now, 12 days early, says it's gonna be a real feel of 80 degrees and mostly sunny with a south six mile an hour wind. It's gonna be the perfect day to play CTK.

SPEAKER_05

Sounds gorgeous. All right. Any other events coming up? Quick shout out. We mentioned John Kirby earlier, uh one of my lemon heads. He's tournament director for a MVP circuit challenge coming up at Windsor Lake, which is western Massachusetts, if you guys aren't familiar. Saturday, August 22nd. It's a two-round circus challenge. It's on disc golf scene. If you're interested, check it out. When is it? Saturday, August 22nd. Okay. Oh wait, is that when is the weekend? No, before we get the yeah. Yeah, that's this weekend.

SPEAKER_08

It'll come out before the yeah.

SPEAKER_06

No, it'll come out the 20th. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Well, if you're if you're looking for something to do, Windsor Lake is a cool course. And you get the circuit challenge discs, the same ones that you would have gotten at uh any of the other circuit challenges this year.

SPEAKER_06

All right. Any other events? I did a piss poor job of writing down events that are coming up.

SPEAKER_05

Are there skip ace events to make picks for? Oh, that's a good point. We got one week for the PDGA Disc golf world championships. Picks close in one week. That's the next thing?

SPEAKER_06

Oh, so that means that's good, actually.

SPEAKER_10

Well, yeah, the picks close before the release of the next episode.

SPEAKER_06

So when I hear this in editing, I can put it out. So like Wednesday, I can put a reminder out.

SPEAKER_05

We forgot about the doubles thing. We didn't get that into the episode.

SPEAKER_08

Uh no worries. Any birthdays coming up? Uh so I missed it last week, but both uh Mindy and Joel Potts had a birthday last week. You weren't here, were you? Oh, yeah, okay. I was not. So you didn't miss it. You guys all missed it. You guys should have known me. That's fair. You couldn't pull that sound that soundboard clip at uh but then also my sister is this Thursday, the 20th.

SPEAKER_06

Ah, release day.

unknown

All right.

SPEAKER_08

I dig it.

SPEAKER_06

Uh Mark G, Long Island guy, his birthday is actually today, the day we're recording. Diana Devlin, who used to be Long Island, I think she she moved away, but her birthday's coming up tomorrow.

SPEAKER_05

Carly Spaulding in a couple days. Tomorrow is Alan Katzer's birthday, sometime Stony Kill regular.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Longtime Memphis disc golfer Beth Mills. Her birthday is tomorrow. My buddy Chris Cologne, he passed away a couple fake killings ago, but his birthday would be coming up. Uh Derek Stoltenberg, he's down your way, right, Ryan?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's uh Sunday, yeah. Yeah, he was. I I don't know, I don't think he's playing. He didn't play last year. I don't know what's where he's at these days.

SPEAKER_08

He had an injury, um, but he's back playing. I played with him a couple weeks back. All right.

SPEAKER_06

Well, we'll try to catch up with skip base next week. Uh thank you, Alex, Corey, Randy, Evan, uh, Ryan, you'll be coming back.

SPEAKER_02

Tournament is the week of the 7th, so Labor Day week. So I'll come on on the 14th and recap our victory, hopefully. And then we're probably gonna get crushed by the defending champions from Estonia.

SPEAKER_06

You'll you'll get stoned.

SPEAKER_02

Oh no, not if we don't, you know, can't get drug tested.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, that's a valid point. All right. He was paying attention during the course. All right, so well, yeah, thanks, Alex, Corey, Ryan, Randy, and Evan, and uh sweet up. Thanks, Pat. Thanks, Pat. Thanks, everybody.

SPEAKER_10

My uncle uh came out for my birthday, and uh one of the things he gave me was like a bucket of beers, and I'm sure you've never heard of them. They're like they're outlaw lights, like 4.2%. Kind of reminds me of like uh you know how coarse has like a tinge, like a tingy taste to it? Like you can recognize it. Yeah, for sure. Okay, like that, but not the same flavor. There's just like something there. Do you think it's like in the like can itself? Like how they like is it is it planned? Is a beer supposed to taste like that? Is that what you're asking?

SPEAKER_02

No, I'm wondering if like if you think it's like from like the manufacturer, like the bot like the canning process. Like it's coming from the metal or something. Or do you think it's just cores might be, cores might be sure.

SPEAKER_10

But this one I thought it kind of feels like it's planned. Interesting. But I ran out of Miller Lights, so I'm like, all right, when I got home from work, I put a couple of these in the fridge, went in the barn for a little bit, came back out, grabbed one, cracked it open, and it tasted like it was turning into wine. And I don't remember when I had them the first time, they didn't taste like that. And now maybe they're just not a good beer when they're like not cold, pretty cold.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_10

So I poured it out into a glass at one point, and it like it looked kind of cloudy, but I don't know. I'd never poured it into the glass before, so I don't know what it's supposed to look like. And uh every time I sipped it, I'm like, I don't know if I should keep drinking this. And then I finished it. And do you get the shits later? Uh not yet.

SPEAKER_02

No, okay, no, it's a good idea. Oh, Jesus. All right, this one tastes just like it, so maybe it's just what yeah, maybe it's uh it's planned. Maybe that's part of the it's a feature, not a not a bug. Actually, what does the label say?

SPEAKER_10

Brewed in America, 4.2%. It doesn't say like, is it a Belgian? Oh, have you have you heard of Tivoli? Tivoli brewing company? No. What's this called?

SPEAKER_02

Outlaw Light. Outlaw Light, yeah. I I'm doing the untap thing. What do you think it gets on untapped? Uh 4.3. Oh no.

SPEAKER_07

Out of what?

SPEAKER_02

No, no, no. Out of five.

SPEAKER_09

What do you think it what do you think it gets? Oh, out of five? Oh, two and a half. 3.25.

SPEAKER_07

I mean, the one you shared with me was wasn't bad. It just was also the clearest beer I've ever seen.

SPEAKER_10

Dude, I'm telling you, this is not clear at all. I don't understand. That's what that's what I thought too. I thought it was like maybe an unfiltered beer for a minute.

SPEAKER_07

It's unfiltered to cut costs, not for like flavor reasons.

SPEAKER_02

It's an American light lager. Crisp and easy drinking domestic light lager that you can drink any time of day. And of the taste characteristics, Untep says it could be sulfitic. Does that mean like taste like sulfur? Maybe that maybe it is maybe that's what you're tasting.

SPEAKER_10

It almost kind of I'm not a blue moon guy. I hate Blue Moon. It almost kind of tastes like a shit blue moon. Like a shittier blue moon.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, never get blue moon light. It's bad. I'll think you're blue moon. It came in a pack that had, I think, Mango Blue Moon, and that was just outstanding. So you just gotta find that one without the mix pack. Sure.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, Ryan, you're like you're a Ruby Rud fan, right?

SPEAKER_02

What's that?

SPEAKER_10

Ah damn it, never mind. You're not you, it's not you're not who I thought you were. But is it it's Jenny? The Jenny Ruby Rod.

SPEAKER_02

I will do you one better. On Saturday, I'm gonna be like literally the Saturday, I'm gonna go to the Genesee brew house in fucking Rochester.

SPEAKER_10

I went to the Unadilla Motocross races this past Saturday. And uh the beer truck they had there like literally had like your classic like white claws and sun joys in the bat blue or light or whatever, but then they had and it was the cheap beer too, the seven dollar ticket. You could also get Genesee Ruby Red.

SPEAKER_09

Okay.

SPEAKER_10

I guess right on a few of those. Is it like grapefruit lager? Basically, that sounds delicious. That's a good disc golf summer beer. For sure. They had the peach one, which is delicious. I would say you probably can't have as many of those before it kind of seems like too much. Uh like just not too much beer, but sweetness. Yeah, yeah. You can't do too many of those.

SPEAKER_06

I actually found, since this is a disc golf podcast, I found the best disc golf type of beer you can have. Founders low profile. Anybody heard of it?

SPEAKER_09

No, no.

SPEAKER_06

It's an IPA.

SPEAKER_09

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

It's very much like all day, but it's three percent.

SPEAKER_10

Well I think uh some people call it like a session.

SPEAKER_06

I think it's even more, I think it's it's more like a I don't know, what's more than a session? Like a I should know that.

SPEAKER_02

That's a good question. It it is a it is a thing. Like it's a big thing in for certain styles, especially in Europe. Like they make like I've heard them referred to as like baby saisons and stuff, and they're only like two and a half or three percent.

SPEAKER_03

It's like Utah.

SPEAKER_02

Right, exactly. Yep.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, not session. I forgot Serenite calls it their weekend warrior mid strength. I would say three percent seems a little low for mid-strength.

SPEAKER_07

Have you guys had uh mango cart? Yeah. Oh my god, and that's only four percent, so like you can you can drink them all day.

SPEAKER_02

That's a good beer.

SPEAKER_06

There's already all day.
